There are really two stories here. Chapter 1 was originally written to stand alone, and deals with Paula's losing struggle not to violate Ann's trust. Chapters 2 and 3 shift the focus to Ann, who of course intends to remain faithful to her husband on her business trip. That ends up being quite a challenge, as well.
