Valentine's Day Pie

Elle came through the door, her hands sorting the envelopes into two groups. She was dressed in tennies and leggings that hugged her hips and legs like a second skin. Her unzipped hoodie revealed she wore nothing beneath. She hip-checked the door, closing it with a satisfying thump and click.
“Rachel,” she called. She didn’t receive an answer, so she yelled, “Rachel, you slut! Where the hell are you? We’ve got mail!”
Rachel came out of the bathroom adjoining their suite, adjusting her tartan micro-skirt. Her tank top was slightly askew, one strap falling off her shoulder... “Who you calling a slut? It takes one to know one!” she groused as she pulled the strap into position on her shoulder. “Sheesh!”
“Well, if you’d answered the first time I called, I wouldn’t have to yell,” Elle answered her, annoyance thick in her voice. She handed her roommate one of the small stacks of envelopes. “Here’s your mail. Looks like you’ve got a couple of letters from home.”
“Looks like you’ve got bills, Elle,” her roommate said as she thumbed through the envelopes. “My parents are such luddites. They can’t seem to get the hang of Zoom calls.” She paused, then dropped everything else. “Look! There’s one from Royce!”
Elle shifted her weight so that she stuck one hip out. “Yeah. New Years was nice, wasn’t it? So, what’s the kid have to say?”
Rachel looked up at her as she ripped open the envelope. “You didn’t think he was such a ‘kid’ at New Years. He took good care of you, didn’t he?”
Elle had the grace to look chagrined. “You’re right. He was such a doll, so accommodating. So, what’s going on with him?”
Rachel read a little bit, then let out a whoop. “He says he wants to visit the university, (and us!) ... make it a college day ... he wants to come up on Valentine’s weekend ... he says if we let him, he’ll bring us a Valentine’s Day surprise.”
Elle giggled and said, “What he’s got ain’t no surprise! He showed us that at New Years. Tell him to come, please; we’ll take good care of him. How are you going to let him know? Mail takes too long, he’d never get a letter in time.”
