Chapter 24

In a dark room with only one light Leon's parents were being questioned relentlessly about what they knew about the base, why they were there and who had they told where they were going. Dread filled Leon's mom's heart, she came to the conclusion that they are living their last day.

Leon awoke slowly in a cold dark cell a collar was around his neck and his head was pounding in pain. From his cell door window he could see Fang in a cage that was much too small for a wolf his size.

Leon had no memory of the needle that hit his neck, his head was roaring in pain. He tried to reach out to Hope with his mind, and immediately a shock ran through him knocking him unconscious on the floor. Leon decided for now he wouldn't try that again. He sat down on the cot that was provided and begun meditation exercises.

Leon's thoughts turned to his mother and his father. He loved them dearly even though they had their typical hardships, hoping they were alright he left himself fall into a deep meditative state.

Several hours later General Ford entered Leon's room, arousing Leon from his deep meditation. General Ford stated to Leon, "Your Mother and Father breathed their last. They shouldn't've brought you here. Now you are my test subject since you also display the power we are looking for. One wrong move I'll kill your pet also" with a maniacal laugh Ford left the room.

Leon was seething with anger, his power was starting to bubble out of control. It wouldn't last for long as soon as Leon felt the power he felt another shock. Darkness took him again.

Hope woke startled as Shadow was sleeping right next to her. Feeling protected Hope woke up and brushed off the pine needles. She was thankful to Shadow, even though she didn't realize he was there until she woke, the night got colder then Hope thought it would and the warmth of Shadow helped her deeply sleep.

She felt Leon for a second then he was just not there. His power was building like it had in the hospital then nothing. Worried she decided to arouse Shadow and ask where Fang was and what happened to her Leon.

Shadow shared with hope everything he knew about the failed rescue attempt. Upon finishing the tail of how he got here Hope started to stress. She didn't think Leon had the ability to control electric, and she still needed to practice her own abilities before attempting to use her own once again.

Hope decided she needed to find a way to get ahold of her mom and plan in advance how to save Leon. She knew she had to demonstrate her powers to her mother and finally bring her into the loop. She was hoping her mom would support her plan on saving Leon covertly. With Shadow by her side she headed south west, Shadow told her there was a town there.

Back in Wyomissing, Pa a phone started to ring, Hope's mom picked it up hearing the words "you have a collect call from Hope will you accept the charges" Through her tears she could barely say yes.
