🐱 Part I: Cat’s Hesitation
The striped canopy fluttered gently in the breeze, and Cat stood with her paws clasped, tail curling like a question mark. She wasn’t sure about hotdogs. She wasn’t sure about mustard. She wasn’t even sure about the Dog, who wore a chef’s hat like he meant it.
Mouse was already bouncing beside her, eyes wide, nose twitching. Cat tried to look casual, but her stomach gave a small, traitorous rumble.
Dog looked up and smiled. “One hotdog, coming right up!”
Cat blinked. Was it for her? Was it for Mouse? She opened her mouth to speak, but the scent of sizzling sausage curled around her like a warm blanket. Maybe ... maybe she’d just wait and see.
🐭 Part II: Mouse’s Delight
Mouse could hardly contain himself. The cart was a palace, the hotdog a crown jewel. He’d never seen a bun so golden, or mustard so artfully squiggled. Dog was a maestro, flipping sausages with flair, and Mouse was his most devoted fan.
He tugged gently at Cat’s fur. “Do you think he’ll give us extra mustard?”
Cat didn’t answer. She was staring at the hotdog like it might bite her first.
Mouse didn’t mind. He was already imagining the crunch of the bun, the snap of the sausage, the zing of the mustard. He’d write a poem about it later. Or maybe a song. Or maybe he’d just ask for another.
