As Rose led me outside, something clicked in my head.
"Rose what about exposure? If we train outside people will see us," I asked.
"Do not worry about that. I cloaked your home, we can train and not worry about people's prying eyes."
I was amazed. Okay I admit it. I was hoping I had remembered about possible exposure and she hadn't. Guess not.
"Okay Jake. It's time for you to transform."
I closed my eyes, picturing my wings expanding. When I opened my eyes, I saw Rose too had transformed.
I waited for her to do something. Nothing, she just stood there.
I closed my wings around me and waited for something to happen.
When I least expected it, Rose charged at me with her sword in her hand. I saw her movements clear as day. I had to admit she was really fast. She struck at me with her sword. Instinctively I raised my hand up and a sword manifested itself in my hand.
Blocking the attack wasn't a surprise. The surprise was I blocked it with a sword. Rose wasn't so shocked.
"Rose, why am I holding a sword?"
"Well Jake, an angel has his or her own weapons and powers. Mine are not the same as yours nor will yours be the same as mine. The sword in your hand is your weapon. you are holding it now because your response to combat is purely instinctive. You needed it so it came."
"This is too weird. Anything else like this going to happen?"
"It wouldn't be training if I told you, now, would it?" She smirked.
In response I charged at her, with my sword in hand. It felt natural to do battle. Our movements flowed as our swords clashed. She would strike at me and I would block her strike and before attacking with my own strike.
At first it was like slow motion and then it got faster and faster and before I knew it we were flying and fighting.
I have no clue how the hell I got into the air, but I know I chased Rose into the air where we went at it more vigorously. Our blades met with loud clangs as we struck at each other with amazing force.
Finally I slowly floated down until my feet touched the ground. I was slightly out of breath, but not as bad as I should have been.
Rose set her feet on the ground a few moments later and formed an orb of energy in her hand. It looked like a ball of glass at first, then it began glowing white. It was glowing brilliantly as she hurled it at me.
As the orb came at me, I remember thinking, "Oh that's gonna hurt, If I only had a shield."
I stood there glued to the ground, as the orb hurtled towards me. Then, to my surprise, it stopped one foot from my chest. It was as if it had struck a barrier that suddenly appeared between me and the orb.
When the orb struck that invisible barrier I saw the orb flatten against the barrier and the barrier seemed to yield with the impact.
I knew I had to do something. I grabbed the orb, I could feel the energy radiating from the orb. Although the energy radiated by the orb was high, it wasn't too much for me to handle. I closed my hands over the orb and crushed it. When it shattered the energy it held rushed into my body.
I felt a warm and very pleasant sensation. I smiled at Rose as I formed an orb in my hand and held it out for her to see.
"That is impossible! That is my technique."
I smiled wider as I sent her attack back at her with more energy that she had sent at me. I watched as the orb flew out of my hand and struck her in the stomach, knocking her down. I didn't want to severely hurt her so I reached out, I don't know how, and destroyed the orb as she was hit.
I was in a daze. I had done something I never thought possible. Hell, I flew and fought, so flying and fighting was real. But Energy orbs?
Rose got to her feet and looked at me with an odd expression. She came close to me and smiled.
