Introduction

With the blessing of Lazlong, I have evolved another Alaska Story into his "Silent Endings-New Beginnings Universe". Both "A Wilderness Ordeal" and "Last Frontier II" ended with troubles with foreign fishing fleets off the Alaska Coast (this is happening) that results in the domestic harvest, the subsistence harvest by the Native populace, and the sport fishing harvest all being curtailed. Nothing is being done about it, other than the season closures.

Let us go back to the new story. I brought the "Last Frontier II" up to nine days before the all out attack and counterstrike began. It described the fall of Taiwan to a Bird Flu epidemic. They say it will kill millions! I left that 9-day wiggle room for another story and author. The far north of Alaska, Northwest Territories, Nunavik, Yukon Territories, and Siberia is sparsely populated, yet vast, and thus not worth the expenditure of a Bio-chemical weapon in dense enough volume to achieve a takeover.

Obviously, Alaska's oil is coveted by many and loathed by OPEC. That makes the pipeline an eventual target in any war. Because of the military bases and population centers both Anchorage and Fairbanks would be targeted and the fallout from Anchorage, would carry to the terminal at Valdez. Large cities along the Inside Passage like Juneau the Capital, Sitka, and Ketchikan would also be targeted.

Needless to say, as in "Silent Endings" the Lower 48 would be saturated. In "SE-NB" there seem to be more women than men surviving, but in Alaska there has always been a smaller number of women than men outside of the big cities. With the Middle East likely erased from the face of the Earth in "SE-NB", control of the Alaska Pipeline intact, will be sought by any enemy we face in a future war.
