Roland and his sister arrived at Jimmy's home at a quarter to eleven the following day, which was a Saturday.

Elizabeth had cooked a ' shepherd pie ', which she served with vegetables from the garden. For desert she had baked a couple of raspberries pies - she had picked the raspberries herself the previous afternoon - topped with whipped cream.
