A LITTLE BACKGROUND

My sister and I were raised from birth in a full time nudist home. Our entire family have been practicing home and social nudists since the 1950s. Our parents had found the positive values and benefits of family and social nudism and felt that this lifestyle would teach us self confidence, not to be judgmental, and to respect others for who they are and not for what they have.

At home nudity was the norm and encouraged for all everyday activities. We would each undress immediately after coming home from work or school, even if alone. Except for the fact that we were all nude, our family behavior and dynamic was no different than that of most stable and happy textile families. For us being nude felt natural and normal.

Being nude together all of the time we learned to separate nudity from sexuality. Non-nudists, not used to nudity in everyday situations, usually only experience nudity with another person when engaging in sex. As responsible nudists we knew not to interpret the presence of a nude person as some form of implied sexual overture or invitation for sexual behavior.

HOW THEY MET

In 1968 my sister, Susan, 18, was taking accounting classes at the community college. There she met Kenneth, a handsome 20 year old young man also studying accounting. They shared two classes together and soon also became part of the same study group. By the end of the semester they began dating. She hesitated disclosing her nudist background until she got to know him better. So for dates they met at school or their date location. From the way he described his family she concluded that they were very conservative and may not be accepting of her family’s wholesome nudist lifestyle.

They eventually became close and she struggled with how to make him aware of her family’s lifestyle. Her strategy was to describe nudism as a positive way of living. She explained the concept that nudity and sex are separate and not related, claiming that people are aroused by nudity because their minds have been trained that way. Clothing is used to promote false modesty and to create separate social classes and prevents people from respecting each other for who they really are. She knew several nudist families that, except for everyone being nude, you would notice no difference in their daily activities and behaviors from any clothed family.

SHE IS A NUDIST

That Friday after classes they met at a quiet spot to speak privately. There she showed him a new nudist magazine, one in which she appeared in two photos. These photos had been taken the previous summer. One was a color full frontal shot of her bouncing a beach ball by a pool. The other was her with another girl posing on a ladder with two boys. She didn’t point them out because she wanted to see if he would recognize her. Cautiously he asked if she was the girl with the ball, which she confirmed.

Over the past few weeks Susan and Kenneth had become close and regularly engaged in passionate kissing and light petting, but had not yet engaged in sex. In fact they were both still virgins. He liked the fact that she seldom wore a bra. But he was more surprised to learn that she always wore skirts but never wore panties.
