terrAiNDROID: BANNER WOLFE aka YUKON
Art by #ArtSensei
Yukon Territory! Serene property if not technically owned by its newest resident.
“Well! What do you think Gabe? Pretty sharp for my first ever log cabin build.”
“I can only imagine what it would have looked like if not for our android asset here.”
“True! It would be lopsided as fuck. I always fancied being a woodsman but didn’t really see it in my future until we jumped into our Tin Woodsman here. Knowing its abilities this was the first thing that came to mind when I became Superman. No better place to hide out from OASIIS than in the wild. Unless satellites or drones pick us up we should be good out here in Neverland.”
“Our home makes me all fuzzy wuzzy.”
Behind Banner Wolfe stood his naked hologram of actress Margot Robbie. A dingbat personality given to her by his computer designate Gabe Munson she was pure bimbo in every way. Banner got a kick out of it. For now she made for good company. Between she and Gabe to talk to he would keep his sanity for a while longer. Not only that but even though Betsy there as he named her was a hologram his android mimicked real physical bonding when they touched. Although hardly real it was nice to feel another and believe. His android was designed to be as human as possible even if artificial everything. Alien tech allowed for miracles!
Moving beside Betsy, Banner held her hip as she melded into his muscular frame. Shirt off she was all over him. “Slow it down Bets! I get our seduction mode is what you’re hardwired into but I won’t have sex 24/7. I want to enjoy life beyond just you. Accept that or I have Gabe lock you up in your cage until I need you again.”
“Poo! You’re no fun, Wall Street Wolfey!”
“I’m loads of fun. I’m just human of mind while you aren’t. You are technically my imaginary friend with benefits.”
“Hold up Lovebirds!” Gabe interrupted them! “I’m detecting human activity.”
“Are you sure it’s not Dodger out hunting?”
“I know the difference between a mountain lion and a human. Look to the East so I can zero in and see what we have better.” In response Banner turned, nudging Betsy away. “Better hide the Booty Queen until we know what we’re dealing with.”
“Betsy? Fade away until I say you can come out of hiding. Better yet, walk into the cabin just in case someone is using binoculars and sees you. We really should make Betsy so only I can see her Gabe.”
“Hey you wanted as close to real as this Gizmo could concoct.”
“I love big concocts.” Betsy giggled!
“Not know! Go on indoors. The door is open so you don’t have to phase through wood.”
“I love big wood too.”
“GO!”
“I’m going! I’m going!” She wiggled away like a runway model and vanished into the cabin. Once over the threshold she ceased to exist visually.
“See anything I’m overlooking Gabe?”
“Looks like Indians guiding a Ranger. A very hot Ranger I might add.”
“Great! I really hoped we were far enough out in the wilderness to avoid detection. Can we get into trouble building a cabin out here?”
“Rules and regulations, My Boy! Just like anywhere else. I’m already designing a permit as given by the City of Whitehorse for this locale. It might only be a paper looking hologram but once you provide it we can mind control this group into believing it’s real. No worries, Son.”
“Good man, Gabe. You always did come through even when we were held captive in Pennsylvania. Any sign of Dodger? We don’t need these tribe members shooting at him.”
“Following his tracking chip. He’s close. Up in the rocks to their left by 200 yards.”
“I better go greet these people and warn them before they get trigger happy.”
“They’ve spotted us ... well, you anyway.” Grabbing his only real shirt Banner put it on and then his ballcap. “Splashing on a sweaty scent for effect. Nothing too pungent in case you want to wag your tail at that Ranger.”
“Better avoid any real contact beyond why they’re out here. It creates problems we don’t need.” Taking a stroll Banner waved at the seven travelers on horseback. Meeting them on a recline in the mountain side Banner aimed for cordial so as not to be mistaken as a threat. The woman speaking French first, Banner played it off as unable to understand. The gorgeous Ranger seeing his struggle switched to English.
“Much better!” He grinned! “Thanks! I really need to brush up on my French.”
“Good afternoon! You ... reside out here?”
“Sure do! That’s my cabin down the path by the lake.”
“I was unaware of any new residents. My name is Jane Barbier of the Yukon Territory Ranger Service, these fine gentleman are from the Northern Tutchone tribe. You are?”
“Glad to have my first real visitors. Hey, fellas!” He saluted the natives who merely studied him without emotion. “Oh! Fair warning! There’s a mountain lion up there in the rocks. He’s friendly. Made himself right at home with me. I notice he’s tagged, I’m guessing released back into the wild and still trying to adjust. Tag says his name is Dodger.”
“Thank you for letting us know. Again, you are?”
“My name is Banner Wolfe.” Gabe filled him in on his fabricated past. “I’m originally from the States. North Dakota! Woke up one day and decided I was tired of how Trump was leading our country. Jumped ship but I did get immigration documents and valid passports. Before you ask, yes, I purchased the land down there. Five acres!”
“Under the circumstances I will take your word. We are out here in search of an airplane that went down nearby. It ignored radio contact and its transponder was shut off. You would not know anything about this would you?”
“No plane crash that I’m aware of.”
“It vanished off of radar. It was a small plane like a Piper Cub. If it landed out here safely that is fine but I was dispatched to find it.”
“I’d help you but my horse died. Anything I can do, please ask.”
Turning in her saddle Jane spoke in Tutchone language. A minute later one of the tribesmen climbed from his horse and brought Banner its rein. Shocked, he accepted it and watched as the rider joined another on their horse. That settled that!
“There is a stable about sixty miles from this location if you require a new horse of your own. I see no corral or barn.”
“He died before I got to any of that. Buried him like thirty miles West so the animals didn’t get him. I’ll look into that stable before Winter hits. Plenty of money so it’s just a matter of time. I figured building my cabin took priority. I have the lake for fish and I do hunt.”
“You look ... quite capable.”
“Aww! Thanks for noticing.” He winked at her. She blushed and motioned him to mount up.
“Do you need anything before we press on? A coat for the evening?”
“Right! Come on down I’ll run in and grab my jacket. Don’t mind my cabin building skills I winged it. I bought a book and a blueprint in Yellowknife to go by. I think I did pretty well on my own. It was hell lifting logs but like you said, capable.”
Climbing up on the horse Banner decreased his actual body weight by tapping into his gravity receptors. Otherwise the horse might panic under his androids true mass of alien alloys. Not only that but even before meeting up with everyone Gabe thought ahead and created a calming sound in the air that only animals could hear. Scent manipulated the horses knew no difference.
A quick ride led to Dodger leaving his rocky perch and trailing behind the horses at a distance. Hiding as much as possible he was weary of the newcomers. This allowed the horses to ignore him.
“Want to stretch your legs real fast while I grab my coat and gun in case I need it?”
“Not the worst idea. We have been riding a while now.” Leering back at her posse Jane spoke again in Tutchone. The riders waited until she climbed from her steed and passed off her rein. Leading the horses away they went to the lake and let them drink and graze a bit in the grass.
Following Banner to at least the threshold she held back as per her training. Just in case he was not as friendly as he seemed. Smart when out in the wilderness! Holograms arranged she noted axes, his back pack, oil lamp, etc. Only his pack and the ax was real. He did build a small table with one chair to use, along with a cot with his sleeping bag over grass stuffing to make a bed. Comfort was no necessity to an android but he knew he needed certain aspects to appear real.
A shotgun was also real, as was the ammo. A saddle hidden away was pure hologram. Coat on before her eyes he went to his backpack and produced those holographic documents to share with her. He held them, she observed. A subtle mind control easily convinced her everything was in order.
“Welcome to the neighborhood, Mister Wolfe.”
“Thank you, Ms. Barbier, was it?”
“Yes. You need a real bed.”
“Its just me. Unless you’re coming to dinner sometime.” Wink! Wink! In his head he heard Betsy bitching. He had to laugh over her jealousy.
“I could be persuaded to pay a visit to check on you once I know you better.” Picking up on her hormones, Gabe chuckled in the androids thoughts.
“She likes you, Kid!”
“Probably lonely out here. No ring on her finger.”
“Ran her stats! She’s not married, no boyfriend. Her parents run a trading post in the village of Windbreak. One sister named Jean. Their parents are mixed, mother Tutchone, father French. The sister is single also. She’s a trapper.”
“Nice!”
Abandoning his mental chat with Gabe before Jane questioned his silence Banner grinned. “My home is your home. I welcome someone to talk to. While yes, you are beautiful I want you to feel at ease with me. I won’t pressure any visit, come by if and when you feel social.” Betsy was stomping her holographic foot inside his thoughts and telling him she was going to claw her eyes out. Gabe put that ball gag back on her. It was insane how real the special effects were within the android. Seductress was a bitch that was for certain.
“I will keep ... that in mind.” She looked again at his cot. Reading her mind Banner realized just how interested she truly was.
“I need laid badly. He is quite handsome. Perhaps I will bring him a twin mattress at least for comfort.” Banner felt honored by her thoughts of a gift.
“I say we hit the trail and find this plane. We can get acquainted more once we know the passengers are alive.”
“You are right! I... “ She looked behind her just as the mountain lion Dodger rubbed up on her left leg. “Well hello there!” She heard him purr then walk right on into the cabin.
“First time he’s ventured indoors. He must consider me family.”
“An animal knows who it can trust. You appear no threat.”
“Not unless it’s my life at stake. Trust me I can take care of myself.” AND HOW! As an android arsenal he could level the mountains around him if need be. She did not need to know that.
“Of this I have no doubt. Will you leave Dodger here alone?”
“Not much he can get into. Well, a few things I guess. I don’t own much. Figured I would build what I need and go from there.”
“Let us coax him outdoors.” She reached into her pocket and produced a baggy of beef jerky. Opening it she waved a small piece in the air so it might attract the cat. Once he seemed interested she tossed it out into the grass behind her. Hurrying by them Dodger found his morsal and enjoyed it. Banner took that time to grab his gun and escort her out. Closing the door behind him he stopped next to the cougar and crouched down. Patting it on the head Banner told him to guard the homestead.
As a help the tribesman brought up two fish and tossed them near the cat. A friendly gesture Dodger went to town in feasting. “Nice to know people care.”
“As you can imagine, nature is our friend. We take care of it, and the spirits take care of us.”
“Tell that to Bigfoot.” Banner laughed!
“You have met a Sasquatch?”
“Uh! No! Are those real?”
“Oh, yes! Beware of them they can be quite sneaky.”
“Right! I can deal with them should they stop by.”
“Good luck with that.” She felt like patting his back. “Let us ride.” She then mounted her horse. Banner definitely admired her buckskin pants, nice and tight. Camel toe even better! The tribesmen did smirk at him. Yep! They noticed too.
Their ride was getting into rougher terrain. Not far off was the permafrost zone which tapered into plateaus and valley’s of pristine beauty. Along the way Banner and Jane talked quite a bit, revealing her life story, all of which Gabe had filled him in on already. However, now he could bring things up without suspicion. Casual telepathic reads he did hear her wonder how well-endowed he was. Providing her a hefty erection swell on command his android shared a good nine-inch pipe leading down his right pant leg. Oh, how her hormones soared. She did ponder if she was the cause of his erection. In her mind she had to be as the only woman out here.
“So, Jane! How do we even know we’re going the right direction?”
“Eagle!”
“Eagle?” He looked around in the sky. The tribesmen laughed just as a walkie talkie erupted from her saddle bag.
“Still out there, Janie?” A female voice spoke up.
“Yes, Auntie! I was telling our new friend about you.”
“Aww! Is he cute?”
“You will see for yourself.”
“Bird’s eye view! Closing in on you now.”
An airplane heard in the distance Banner located the source. Using telescopic vision his android eyes spotted a Cessna approaching. As it tilted sideways he caught a glimpse of the pilot. Nice! Sunglasses on or not Auntie looked beautiful. Beauty evidently ran in the family. Auntie was obviously from her father’s side she had blonde hair.
“That is my Aunt Ruth. Beware, she can be a handful.” Again the tribesmen laughed! “See? They know! Ruth likes to get drunk and ... perform without her clothing. She is too good at her job to reprimand therefore the local authorities let her do as she pleases. I apologize before you meet her.”
“I’ll try not to be a man in the moment.”
“Is that even possible?” She mused! “I will let you decide how you feel about her.”
“What about you?” He smirked! Betsy was kicking her holographic feet wildly at his brain box. As if she could harm him. Gabe just chuckled!
“What about me?” She had a hunch he was flirting.
“I’ll try my best to concentrate on the job at hand.” Telepathic thoughts read Jane used his terminology to envision Banner jerking off. She had to hide her blush by looking around her.
“Sweet Jesus! Where did you find that hunky mountain man?” Aunt Ruth laughed! “He’s fogging up my binoculars.”
“Behave yourself, Auntie.”
“You know I won’t! What’s our studs name?” Shaking her head she passed her talkie over to Banner. Accepting it he pressed the button to speak for himself.
“The studs name is Banner. Nice to meet you, Ruth. Any sign of our missing plane?”
“Not yet! Nungak has his eyes open though. He’s my co-pilot.”
“Eagle!” Jane snickered! “Nungak translates to Eagle.”
“Ah! So, the Eagle isn’t the plane or Aunt Ruth.”
“No! She refers to her plane as Betsy.” In his head Banner’s version of Betsy laughed right along with Gabe. Ball gag removed briefly she shouted her loyalty to Banner then referred to herself as his favorite Plane in the Ass. That she was! BOeING! Gabe locked her back up in the hangar.
“This much country finding that plane is a needle in a haystack.”
“Agreed! A compass needle in a haystack.” Jane sighed! She had a cute sense of humor. Handing the talkie back the group saw Ruth fly right over them and head North. “Keep me posted, Auntie.”
“You keep me posted on the lumberjack. I bet he has a hefty post. North Pole even!”
“There is no filter.” Jane frowned!
“All good! I won’t press harassment charges.”
“It would do no good. Out here the wild dictates the rules.”
“Troubles out here much?”
“Locals mostly! Disputes over hunting and the like. There is a logging company about thirty miles East of here. A goldmine fifty miles West. A number of other mines for copper, tungsten, coal, and silver within one hundred miles.”
“And I thought I was as far away from society as I could get.” He wondered why Gabe didn’t warn him. Gabe quickly told him that it didn’t matter, they had their own piece of paradise. Nobody would likely venture his way unless the situation, like today, called for it. Banner was hardly mad about it all.
“Afraid not! Where you homestead only hunters pay visits.”
“And Sasquatch.”
“You laugh! Wait until one comes knocking on your door.”
“I’ll buy it when I see it. Like I said, I can handle anything that comes my way. Believe it or not I actually rescued some bear cubs from the rapids when I first got here.” Last week! “Momma Bear was pretty grateful. Grizzlies!”
“Mothers are normally protective. I am surprised you are still alive.”
“I think she understood what the other option was. As I said, she was grateful. They left me alone and moved on.”
“You are good with animals.”
“Then I’ll challenge a Sasquatch to a game of chess.”
“That would be a sight.”
“I’m open to making friends.” Again, he winked at Jane.
“Heads up, People!” Ruth chimed in over the walkie talkie. “I think I found our bird. Piper PA-28 Cherokee by the size of it. Looks pretty intact but the landing gear must have failed. No sign of survivors at the moment. Approximately four miles due North from your position. No place for me to set down so I’ll go find a spot and let you know in case I need to airlift any patients. You can bring them to us.”
“Copy that, Auntie! On our way.” Pushing their horses hard they made the trip into a small valley with a river running through it. Binoculars out all of them surveyed the area until one of the tribesmen pointed. “Qillak says he spotted the plane’s tail section in the foliage.”
“Qillak?” What a name! Gabe translated it to Feather. Sure! Why not!
Making their way to the site they smelled gas fumes and realized it must be leaked fuel. Careful, they dismounted. Jane and two of the tribesmen approached the plane and found it empty. “No passengers!”
Another member of the Tutchone noted a trail of blood and footprints. Three sets of boot marks disappeared toward the river. While they investigated the trail Jane crawled into the plane and looked over papers to try and discern who they might be.
As Jane read papers, Banner used his own detective skills. Eyes looking at the pilot controls he zoomed in on fingerprints and let Gabe check through databases abused by satellite systems up in space.
“Yorick Kellogg! Hooboy! Yorick is a mercenary. Last trail of his business dealings was two weeks ago. He flew in from Israel and hooked up with a gentleman by the name of Boris Mazursky. We see his prints on the cabin door.” Banner was constantly scanning. “Which means they were together here for some reason.”
“What about the third set of footprints.”
“Female! She’s the bleeder, I think. Touch her blood we can perform a DNA analysis on the fly.” Jane looked up from her documents and saw Banner lightly touch blood on the floor. Puzzled by it she watched him closely.
“You should probably not touch this in case it is a crime scene.”
“Sorry! Curiosity!”
Absorbing blood although dried the android pores it began processing the information. Gabe quickly got back to him. “Elsa Davenport. She was reported as kidnapped from Vancouver, British Columbia three days ago. Her father Andrew Davenport is the richest man in Vancouver. Not much to go by concerning police reports. It’s like this is being brushed under the rug. Andrew and his wife are posting a reward for her return though. No bites!”
“What did we stumble onto.” He spoke out loud.
“Good question. These papers show the plane as owned by Chatterton Aviation in Vancouver. I can have my people make calls to the airline.”
“Plane was stolen.” Gabe reported in! “Nobody found out and reported it missing until the next morning. Small independent field. I’m guessing Yorick and Boris were hired to abduct Elsa Davenport. Thing is, there’s been no ransom note at present. At least that has been documented by law enforcement.”
“Any way we can determine the flight plan for a destination?”
“Checking GPS! Yes, there is an airfield fifty miles further North. A fueling station for the Arctic. My suspicion is that’s where they are headed.” Once Gabe was done, Banner broke his trance.
“Jane? What is the closest population center or even an airport?”
“Gurney’s Pass! Fifty-two miles North of here. Good intuition, they might have been headed there. The footprints seem to indicate the right direction. They could follow the river it runs right by Gurney’s Pass.”
“Whoever is wounded might not make it. A lot of blood by the looks of it.”
“Medical kit is missing.” She looked! Breaking out her walkie-talkie Jane called for Ruth. “Out there, Auntie?”
“Still in the air. What’s up, Baby Girl?”
“Follow the river to Gurney’s Pass. I believe they were headed there but fell short in a rough landing. Be careful! We don’t know anything about the passengers. The plane hails from Vancouver. It is a long way from home.”
