Chapter 4
Now, you must understand that the condition of her bower wasn’t exactly her fault. Nope. Jane ... you remember Jane? The ship? Yeah, that Jane.
Jane knew that Anni was going to be winging it. So ... to make winging it as painless as possible, Jane had made modifications to each individual landing capsule ... depending on the location of said landing.
Into every life a little ... or a lot ... of rain must fall. Anni’s landing was several miles off the calculated destination ... several hundreds off.
The intention was Lake Geneva and the Hare and Hound Motorcycle Race.
So the landing capsule shielding dropped off revealing a slightly used 1957 BMW 69RS, the sidecar version of the BMW 69R. The BMW 600 cc, 34hp shaft drive motorcycle is stable, quiet, easy to start, and above all ... beautiful. This Motor was exactly the type of classy European engineering that a magnificent specimen of Nordic biochemistry like Anni would drive to just such an event. Imagine the effect of all that red hair whipping about leather covered shoulders as she shakes it out after removing her helmet.
Jane, not content with just copying the motorcycle, had produced a bike that no BMW mechanic would recognize once the heads were off. 1000cc twin carb with electronic ignition and nitrided titanium rods with roller bearings, the motor with sidecar easily topped 200 kph (124mph). The fully upholstered sidecar was long enough to lie down in and had a soundproof pull-over shield that encapsulated the entire sidecar.
The leather saddlebags contained many one pound ingots of Scandium which were much more valuable than gold ... thirty five thousand dollars an ounce ... and the sidecar side clothing compartments, that she had no idea were there, contained standard semi-adult teen wear including the cast iron bras and impossible girdles still in vogue ... neither of which interested our nudist the tiniest little bit. Had she stayed with the capsule long enough upon landing, she would have discovered the contents and motorcycle; alas ... she wandered over to the noise of party preparations.
Anni discovered that American boys weren’t all that skilled or that much fun in the sack ... no matter what the television broadcasts said. To make matters even worse, they weren’t interested in learning. The boys were used to the girl who said, “You want to touch me there? I don’t touch me there ... just get on with it.” and “You want to kiss it? Ick! I pee from there.” That is ... unless they got slapped instead of cooperation.
The two additional chromosome pairs in her genes gave the girl an interesting outlook. Anni didn’t think like earthlings. Her mindset was different. Her planet had no seasons, it was always summer; Fall was incomprehensible. Winter would be terrifying; ice and snow happened at the poles ... and NObody lived in the snow.
Spring made no sense ... after all, since the flora of her world never stopped growing why would there need to be a time of re-birth? Even on earth there are peoples who don’t know the things many earthlings take for granted. Listening to Earth radio and watching Earth television didn’t prepare her for the diversity ... the diversity that often caused wars.
Jane had intended Anni land closer to the commodities markets of Chicago. There, her previously very rare one pound ingots of Scandium would bring a tad more than half a million dollars each. In the immediate future, the price would drop as production increased but, right now, Scandium was as rare a rare earth as it gets. Its addition to aluminum prevents flexing stress failure along welded wing panel joints.
