Tim and Tiff were sitting down very close to each other eating their breakfast. Just as they finished a knock on the door. They looked at each other surprised. Tim went to the door. Two police officers were standing there. They asked if he was Tim and was his sister at home. He acknowledged and replied yes. They requested permission to enter. Tim opened the door hoping they would not question him about last night. They asked them to sit down.

The female officer explained “Your parents are in hospital and currently being operated upon.” Tim and Tiff looked in anguish. “Their meeting was attacked by some outsiders and both of your parents have broken legs, unfortunately badly broken. Who is the eldest and how old are you?”
Tiff, in tears replied “I am I’m 17.” Tim held her as she cried. His eyes were wet as well.
She replied “Good, we could take you into care but if you state you would like to live here safely together we will not take any further action. We can take you to the hospital if you wish, I do suggest you change out of your school uniforms as I don’t think you will be attending school today.” They walked to the bedrooms with Tim holding Tiff and changed into smart casual clothes. Tiff replied “If mum allows I will do the prep work and food for your party. You have invited five friend to attend. If you allow me to have two friend of mine, we will make your birthday party a night to remember.” He gave her a cuddle.

Tiff replied “How about I ask Lorraine and Naomi?”

At home Tiff and Tim did the laundry for their parents and Tiff repacked a bag for their stay in the hospital. Lorraine rang as Tiff walked away to her room. She explained about what happened to her parents and about her brother’s birthday party. Lorraine was very happy to help and would bake a cake for Tim tonight.
