The stage is set as a typical bedroom with a bed, a dressing table, a wardrobe and a mirror. The nude lady enters the room, wearing nothing and looking confused. She stands in front of the wardrobe and looks at it for a while before turning around to face the audience.
Lady: (to the audience nude) Good morning. I seem to have forgotten how to get dressed.
Scene 2: The Lady’s Attempt at Getting Dressed
The Lady begins to rummage through the wardrobe, pulling out different items of clothing and examining them closely. She tries to put on a blouse but puts it on backward. She then tries to put on a skirt, but can’t seem to get the zipper up. Finally, she tries to put on a pair of shoes, but can’t figure out how to fasten the straps.
Lady: (frustrated) This shouldn’t be so difficult. I’ve been getting dressed for years.
Scene 3: The Lady’s Frustration
The Lady continues to struggle with getting dressed. She becomes more and more frustrated, throwing clothing around the room and pacing back and forth.
Lady: (to herself) What is wrong with me? Why can’t I do this simple task?
Scene 4: The Lady’s Revelation
Suddenly, the Lady stops pacing and looks at herself in the mirror. She sees that she is wearing the blouse backward and that her skirt is on inside out. She begins to laugh.
Lady: (laughing) I think I’ve figured it out. I just needed to slow down and pay attention.
Act Two:
Scene 1: The Lady’s Success.
The Lady stands in front of the mirror, dressed in a perfectly coordinated outfit. She smiles and nods at her reflection.
Lady: (to herself) See, that wasn’t so hard.
Scene 2: The Lady’s Realization
The Lady turns to the audience.
Lady: (to the audience) I’ve been so busy lately that I haven’t been paying attention to the little things. Getting dressed is just one example. But I think it’s time for me to slow down and enjoy life again.
Scene 3: The Lady’s Lesson
The Lady begins to tidy up the room, putting away the clothes she had thrown around earlier.
Lady: (to the audience) Sometimes, we get so caught up in our daily routines that we forget to appreciate the simple things. We forget to take the time to enjoy life and all its little joys. But, it’s important to slow down and pay attention to the world around us. Who knows what we might discover?
Scene 4: The Lady’s Exit
The Lady exits the room, looking content and happy.
Lady: (to the audience) Thank you for joining me on this journey. I hope you’ve learned something too.
The stage goes dark.
