Chapter 1: New Year, New Drama
Sarah stepped out of her shiny new car and took a deep breath. It was the first day of her senior year at Eastwood High, and she couldn’t help but feel a twinge of nervousness. She had spent all summer trying to get over Tyler, her ex-boyfriend of two years, but the memories were still fresh in her mind.
As she walked towards the school building, she couldn’t help but notice how much had changed since last year. Some of the old lockers had been replaced, and there were new murals on the walls. But one thing that hadn’t changed was the fact that Sarah was still the center of attention.
As soon as she walked through the doors, people started whispering and pointing in her direction. She could hear snippets of conversation as she made her way to her locker. “Did you hear about Sarah and Tyler?” “I heard they broke up.” “I wonder who she’s going to date now.”
Sarah tried to ignore the chatter as she opened her locker and started putting her books away. She knew she looked good - her hair was perfectly curled, her makeup was flawless, and her outfit was on point - but she didn’t want to draw any more attention to herself than she already had.
Just then, someone tapped her on the shoulder. She turned around to see a boy she didn’t recognize - tall, with dark hair and piercing blue eyes. “Hey,” he said, flashing her a smile. “I’m Jake. I’m new here.”
Sarah’s heart skipped a beat. She had always had a weakness for bad boys, and Jake looked like he fit the bill perfectly. “Hi,” she said, trying to keep her cool. “I’m Sarah.”
They chatted for a few minutes, and Sarah couldn’t help but notice how easy it was to talk to him. He had a quiet confidence about him that she found intriguing. She was just starting to feel like they were hitting it off when she heard a voice behind her.
“Hey, Sarah.” It was Tyler, her ex-boyfriend. Sarah could feel her stomach drop as she turned around to face him. “I heard you were talking to this guy. You’re not thinking of dating him, are you?”
Sarah bristled at Tyler’s possessiveness. “That’s none of your business,” she said, trying to keep her voice steady.
Tyler leaned in closer. “You know I still care about you, Sarah. We can make this work.”
Sarah shook her head. “It’s over, Tyler. I can’t keep going back to you every time you decide you want me again. I need to move on.”
