Chapter 41: Plans for August

The next day, after Dylan had returned home to unpack, Anna’s phone pinged with a new message.

Freja <Can I come to see you in Mallorca before the holidays end?>

Anna <Me or Dylan?>

Freja <Both!>

Anna <I would love to see you. It’s been too long and I’m sure Dylan would love to see you too. When were you thinking of?>

Freja <Would the last week of August be OK?>

Anna <LOL! It would be perfect. Tom, the boy I met while Dylan was away is coming that week too!>

Freja <Won’t that be a bit awkward?>

Anna <No! It was going to be a problem with my boyfriend and my summer lover. Now, if you can spend some time with Dylan then I can spend some time with Tom without feeling guilty!>

Freja <Sounds like a win win! I’d love to spend some time with Dylan if you don’t mind>

Anna <Not at all. I will check that week is OK with Mum and get back to you>

Anna went into the lounge where her Mum was reading a magazine.

“Mum, Freja wants to come and visit the last week of August. Is that OK?”

“Your Dad and I were hoping to go to Sweden that week” Birgit said. “Erika may still be in Southampton then helping Mat sort out the appartment he is planning to rent, so we thought you would come with us. Sorry we didn’t get the chance to talk to you about it before.”

“Tom is coming that week too” Anna said “Can’t I stay here with Freja and Dylan?”

“Wow! That’s a big ask Anna” her Mum replied.

“I know, but you know we won’t have wild parties and wreck the house” Anna replied.

“I need to talk to your Dad, Freja’s Mum and Jen” said Birgit. “Won’t it be awkward with Tom, Dylan and Freja here?”

“Maybe a bit but Freja did get together with Dylan in Stockholm” Anna replied rather sheepishly.

“So I heard from my sister” Birgit said, “Your life is getting really complicated, be careful Anna”.

“I will try, but fun things just seem to happen” Anna replied “I have another question. We agreed that Dylan could sleep with me but not on school nights. Well, now we are on school holidays, there are no school nights”.

Birgit thought for a minute then answered Anna’s unspoken question.

“OK. I’ll leave it up to you, but when you go back to school, it’s back to non-school nights”

“Thanks Mum, you’re the best” said Anna.

Anna then phoned Dylan to check he was OK with Freja visiting the last week of August.

“No problem” he said, “I’d really like to see her again, if it’s OK with you”.
