Chapter 25: A Windy Return

In the morning they got up for breakfast at 8 and were ready to leave by 9. Mat rechecked the forecast which had not changed, so he ordered lifejackets and harnesses. Dylan checked their cabin and heads to be sure everything was properly stowed then went on deck to check that all was in order. They were moored alongside and the wind was blowing them onto the quay which would mean leaving was tricky. Fortunately, the boat had a bow thruster which would help. Mat explained how he planned the manoeuvre then asked Anna to take in the forward line and Erika the aft one, leaving the spring until the bow was well off the quay. Dylan took in the spring and they were well underway without any incident.

The girls took in the fenders and stowed them in the aft deck locker while Dylan coiled and stowed the mooring lines. They were all back in the cockpit as the yacht reached the mouth of the creek and, as soon as they were clear, they unfurled the sails and the boat was quickly up to hull speed just above 7 knots. As the wind was from the eastern shore off the island, the sea was quite calm but Mat warned the girls that as soon as they cleared the land, they would get one to two metre waves on the beam.

“Anna, come and take over the helm so that you get a feel for the boat in stronger winds than yesterday,” Mat asked “then I’ll help you steer when the waves start.”

Anna was a bit apprehensive as she had assumed the boys would steer in the heavier weather, but she did as she was told.

The boat was really moving now, reaching over 8 knots in the gusts. Once she got the feel of it she began to relax and enjoy herself, correcting the course becoming almost automatic. As they cleared the land, the waves began to build and Anna had to concentrate more, both to keep her balance and maintain her course. Mat made a couple of minor comments but was very pleased with her helming ability. Her dinghy sailing had taught her a lot. She turned to look at him briefly with a beaming smile obviously really enjoying the experience.

“This is as good a thrill as skiing” Anna shouted above the wind, the occasional spray hitting against her waterproofs.

“You’re doing remarkably well” Mat replied.

Dylan and Erika were sitting under the cover of the sprayhood, laughing at Anna. He had been taking photos of her enjoying herself on the helm with her ponytail blowing about in the wind. He was trying to catch the moment when the spray hit her.

After about an hour Mat said “I know you’re enjoying yourself Anna, but your sister will get very grumpy if I don’t give her a turn.”

“If I must!” Anna replied smiling at him “Thanks for letting me helm Skipper”.

Mat took over the helm, while waiting for Erika to clip on her harness line and join him. Anna returned to the cockpit and jumped on Dylan, giving him a passionate, if salty kiss.

“That was so good it was worth missing a couple of orgasms for!” she exclaimed.

“You’re a natural Anna!” Dylan replied, “I thought you were getting your missing orgasms each time some spray hit you”.

“I’m wet, sweaty, my hair is a mess and my lips taste salty. Do you still love me?”
