Chapter 7

It will come as no surprise to most of the readers that this is not only fiction but bald faced lies. The author has been known to stretch the truth past breaking. He is fully aware that Monster Millions is his own creation and does not exist in reality. He is also cognizant of the fact that this an alternate reality. The names might be real ... the people are not. If your name is in here ... it’s not you ... any of you.

In a fast moving camo painted high horsepower big block powered Suburban with a black bag over my head and cuffed both ends ... hands and feet ... and a waist chain ... I had no idea where I was. I remembered reading a spy novel. The hero was in a similar situation ... he remembered every turn and the sound of the engine during the straights ... he made his escape and killed everybody ... then he drove away from the massacre by remembering the trip backwards ... no lights ... in the dark ... in the mountains ... in the rain. With lightning bolts crashing all around blowing huge craters in the road surface. He made it down the mountain with narry a mistake ... rescued the women ... disarmed the nuclear weapon by cutting the blue wire and sneaked off so no one could take his picture ... I wondered how he could do that ... I was lost after the third turn.

Oh yeah ... fiction.

I need that writer to save my butt.

Instead, I got the insane surgeon. He’d strapped me to a table ... turned a powerful light on ... glittering implements laid out just so on imposing stainless small tables...

and then...

and then...

and then...

HE took my finger...

pressed it to a pad of ink and impressed that ink on paper.

... prints.

Ran the prints through the Alphabet Soup files and said, “Vi ... you’ve lost a lot of weight.”

“I’ve been sick.”

“So I see.”

He was looking through a file that had my name on it.

“Why are you here?”

“I need an examination by a doctor so I can go to high school.”

“I can do that.”

He did ... even had the forms.

“You’re in great shape.”

“I get tired.”

“I’ll fix you right up.”

He wrote out a ‘script for Prescription Only Multi Vitamins and made sure I knew how to take them. He called the base pharmacy and they sent them over by courier.

I took one in the doctor’s presence. I waited in the office while his nurse made sure I didn’t react badly.

After fifteen minutes I felt fine.

She called the doctor and he called the MP’s and they delivered me to school. It was only a couple of miles. The carpenter was still fixing the Nurses Office door.

I handed her the examination form and she sent me back to class.

What a rip ... I didn’t get to finish my lunch.

But I didn’t have to call daddy to collect me.
