Chapter 3
Junior arrived first. She had a ‘mission.’
The ‘mission’ had removed her from the clutches of the Antler chores. But not until evening shift was over ... Frank could finish his own mess.
Success would allow Junior to reside in her family ‘cottage’ in Pentwater until Surprise returned. Several years before Junior had sold said cottage to one Surprise Me Flintkote because the girl needed docking for a boat ... a rather BIG boat.
The shift from everyday Pentwater to exclusive Austin was just a normal for Junior. She tended to go where her ‘wanter’ wanted and right now was as good as it gets. Junior only ‘rules’ when she feels like it.
Eh ... her hands were a little chapped, the jeans were slightly tattered, the tee advertising was obscure and the running shoes squished. Junior was sure she wasn’t dressed for the location or occasion but ... Junior never was and she was secure in her person. She materialized outside the building. The neighborhood was such that no one noticed.
(I suppose I need to explain. If you are a regular ignore this part ... you know. Junior holds the family WATCH ... a time travel device ... it is directional; forward, back. Locational; Over, under, sideways, down. Wind it counter clockwise and you are invisible. It is supremely useful for getting into and out of ... trouble. The Seven have often swapped the newest model watch for Junior’s older watches. This one is a USED Patek Philippe Grand Complications 6002R-001. 44 mm. The watch has Grand Feu brown enamel Dial. The Case is Rose gold w/ Caliber # R TO 27 QR SID LU CL w/ 55 Jewels, 48 hours power reserve. The Alligator leather strap with fold-over clasp. Not water-resistant. The Watch comes complete with Patek Philippe Papers & Original Patek Philippe Box. Covered with Patek Philippe 2-Year Warranty. It is the only one and priced just a tick over 8 million USD. It is a mans watch and Junior doesn’t care. Although ... she doesn’t like it as well as her last watch ... it was waterproof.)
The sign, ‘WALTERS’ was discrete and in Cursive. The decor was minimalist but ‘expensive.’ The ‘chime’ was classical. No one was waiting except the receptionist.
The receptionist was fairly certain that the waif who entered was the victim of a pratical joke ... but customers came in all sizes and all states of dress. The last person to darken her door was a multi-millionare cowboy who smelled like he had tied his horse to a parking meter. The profit from THAT sale had secured her job for 10 years.
“Yes?”
“My principal is looking for a domicile in which to reside during her tenure as a math instructor at UT.”
Junior had rehearsed that opening down time. Her diction coach would not permit her to depart until she had the speech letter perfect.
