Despite much rhetoric, there had been little done by Conservative politicians to deal with Prostitution – the Left Wing ‘Opposition’ in Spring Street seemed almost indifferent to doing anything. Government appeared to accept the status quo. Thus, there had been little that policewomen like Senior Constable Candice McNamara could do...?

And, the prostitute working Whitworth Road and the alley knew it. And, so did their ‘Pimps’ too. The policewomen all knew both Sandra Lee Avalon and Diana Murdoch. ‘The Countess’ and ‘Barbarella’ however, took care of their prostitutes and that was something unique. Not that it was common knowledge, but Sandra and Diana had come to an arrangement with the ‘Women Police’ - Sandra ‘The Countess’ Avalon in particular, for she had a real taste for police ‘cunt’ and it was said that, the ‘Pimp’ had been ‘fucking’ several policewomen. Notwithstanding the provisions of the1955 Crimes Act, the Conservative Liberal / National Coalition had given their tacit approval for Prostitution to flourish. So, Senior Constable Candice McNamara knew that she was intruding on Sandra Lee Avalon’s fiefdom.

Whilst not quite their responsibility within ‘B’ District, the Greensborough ‘Women Police’ Division now enjoyed an intimate ‘relationship’ with the notorious ‘Pimp’ and her prostitutes. Not that the Criminal Investigation Branch or ‘Crime Cars’ Squad cared. Nor did the local ‘Uniform Branch’ either. Right Wing Conservatism had turned their eyes elsewhere, and that was that.

Diana Murdoch had the ‘Fantasia’ Massage Parlour. ‘The Countess’ her prostitutes. And then, there was the ‘Club Exotique’ Café – a popular ‘watering hole’ for prostitutes, policewomen and ‘Struippers’ – Sergeanbt Pauline ‘The Queen Bee’ Masterson however, had declared the ‘Club Exotique’ now off limits to her policewomen. Not that any of them really paid heed to her directions.

If anything, the Right Wing Liberal / National Coalition were intent on making the recent 1977 Equal Opportunities Act irrelevant – the so-called ‘Slut Squad’ had long been treated with disdain and contempt by the ‘Uniform Branch’ and Criminal Investigation Branch at Greensborough. It had even been suggested, that the ‘Women Police’ was nothing more than an unofficial ‘dumping ground’ for lesbian ‘cunts’ like Candice and Laura. Nevertheless, the policewoman continued to work hard.

Their workload never lessened. So it was no real surprise, that the four policewomen had drunk too much Johnny Walker ‘Red Label’ that fateful evening with Davina. They liked to play hard too!

Prior to the 1977 Equal Opportunities Act, the old ‘Female Seniority’ had allowed her to gain promotion over many of her male peers. And, as a ‘favourite’ pf one of the first female ‘Commissioners’ in the Victoria Police, Pauline Masterson had enjoyed everything her own way. But, Bernice had resigned – she could not be the new ‘Chief Commissioner’ and that had left ‘The Queen Bee’ without any ‘girlfriends’ at the William Street Police Headquarters in Melbourne. To add insult to injury, there were now also rumours circulating about the possible appointment of some policewomen from New South Wales. Though it was really only gossip, it was said the Conservative Government was considering a senior New South Wales policewoman to be the new ‘Chief Commissioner’...?
