Chapter 2: L’ielit’s Impressions

The world outside the McD suddenly went grey. I immediately realized it. This was what I hoped for, the last three years. Dreamily I stood up. Guido, the friend that I was with, took my hand and held me back “Is this really what you want? The future out there is no more safe than it is here. In fact, you will have less opportunities as concubine than you have here.”

A marine made his speech, I didn’t listen to him as I could not understand his German speech anyway. Most probably it was the same thing he’s saying at every extraction. Who’s the boss, how many the chosen ones can take with them, blablabla. I knew this procedure. I was prepared - theoretically. Guido had a hard time making me understand the consequences of leaving earth as concubine.

Mentally I was a wreck. I trembled like a leaf in the wind as I spoke to Guido in my poor English. “Guido, you know me here for this exactly. Please no make worse.”

Suddenly there was another marine beside me. “Is there a problem? Do you want to join the line for selection?”

“Yes me want,” I croaked. “No problem.”

Guido released my hand and showed me thumbs up. He certainly was the first man who had respected me. I felt a little guilty leaving him.

Then I stood in a row with about sixty other women and a few men for the meat inspection.

There were only four volunteers. One woman in her late forties who could take six slaves, two men who just made it above a CAP of 6.5 and could take two each and a young boy. I wasn’t that familiar with white people at that time but I was sure he couldn’t be older than fifteen. Surprisingly the marines declared that he too could take six concubines with him.

Some women around me started to strip their tops even before they were asked to do so. ‘God,’ I thought, ‘now I’m dead’. I never had problems with nudity, you should know, but the way I had walked to come here was a really torturous one. I knew for certain, if I stripped, there would be gasps of shock and horror around me.

The woman waved all men toward her “Hey guys, fuck me. Satisfy me. Two of you will get the ticket to the stars.” So there will be four slots for women in her herd. But she will be busy for a while before she even starts to look for them.

The two men made a test drive rally with some willing girls, all young, all pretty. They didn’t even reach my end of the row.

That left the little boy. Somebody who needs protection, I thought, looking at him. But he was the volunteer, so there must be something about him. Methodically he walked the line, inspected CAP cards, asked questions. He tried to hide his interest in naked boobs but the tent in his trousers told another story. I allowed a smile to slip onto my face. Well, it just slipped out onto my face. I had no control over my emotions at that time. I had a white cloud of hope in my head although I knew my chances were minimal.

Then he stood before me. “Hi, ich bin Joachim, wie heisst du?”

There it was, one of my major problems “Sorry, me no speak German. Me hope this no big problem.”

“Not at all,” He switched to perfect English in a blink. My English still is not nearly as good. “So what’s your name?”

One of the marines interrupted. “You don’t speak German. Did you understand what this all is about? Sponsors, concubines, the Confederation?”

“My name is L’ielit Debir. I’m from Ethiopia,” I said. As if this could explain anything. “Yes, me know. Sponsor is master. Concubine is slave. Me no rights if me go. Decision now, here. Confederation fight Sa’arm. Sponsors is soldier ants for confederation. Concubines is working ants for soldiers.”
