Originally the house was built during 1800s in east Texas. Back then it had belonged to a wealthy family, one of the wealthy families that didn’t own slaves and was opposed to slavery. During the Civil War it surprisingly, despite battles all around it, survived intact. Numerous escape tunnels were built into the old house prior to and during the war but none were ever needed and over time most were forgotten though one that hadn’t been forgotten was expanded into a cellar and storm shelter in the 1920s by then another family had purchased the old house and modernize somewhat. It now had electricity, but still kept its old time appearance. The family had had plans to update the exterior as well but unfortunately the depression hit and the family lost most of its fortune. They were forced to sell it to yet another family who tried to make a home of it.

However during the Second World War the family lost two of their three sons. The third son did return home but was so badly wounded that he couldn’t take care of the place. They sold the house to a man who turned it into one of the first bed and breakfast establishments ever created. He made good money at it for a while, but he didn’t put enough into up keep of the house. Finally in the mid 70s it was closed down and abandoned.

It reminded that way until it was bought by a young man in the early 90s. He promptly began to modernize the electricity and interior of the old house and even repainted the exterior of it.

The new old house:

It wasn’t until he began finding some old the old escape tunnels that an idea formed in his head. You see along with the escape tunnels there were secret passageways within the old house that no one had ever discovered until now. Of course everyone knew of the cellar/storm shelter. But no one knew of the other escape routes which had a common tunnel access. He created another room in the other tunnel. There he set up an elaborate electronics station with computers and such. Then, under the guise of added security, he added tiny cameras in every room of the house. When he was done he started renting rooms to the general public.
