Chapter 48
We slept for a couple of hours. Her mother came in to wake us. “You two look good sleeping that way.” She smiled gently.
Alice grinned. “I could make it a habit.” I blushed.
Her mother grinned back. “No.” She looked more serious. “Supper in an hour.”
I decided I should find my voice. “Thank you. We’ll be out in a moment.” We were both lying on top of the covers fully clothed so truly were lying here innocently.
We got out of bed. I went into the bathroom and washed my face. I felt more awake. Alice kissed me for a long, enjoyable time and I felt even better. We walked to the kitchen holding hands.
Once there, we were put to work setting the table. We completed that task and sat in the kitchen with Missus Meadows and Grace. I said, “Grace, you seem happy and relaxed.”
She smiled. “I am. This is a warm and comfortable place for me. I think Mitchell and I may come to a decision and act on it before you two do.”
I smiled. “The decision is there but the timing isn’t.” Alice nodded and hugged my arm.
Grace looked a little shocked. Alice said, “What? We’ve been together longer than you and Mitch. We introduced you to each other. Jerry and I also realize and have realized that we’re only college freshmen and have a lot of living to do. We’re together a lot and find each other agreeable in many ways. We also have time whereas you are about to make big changes in your status by graduating and starting to teach.”
She said, “You met during orientation? That was a big change.”
“Yes, but we became part of each other’s change. It worked and works for us. Jerry has started to talk about a ring but we plan on a long engagement.”
I chuckled mirthlessly. “Our next challenge is another TV interview with the same lady. They want to air it before Christmas.”
Alice said, “They will film it at Jerry’s house. His parents are agreeing reluctantly. We’ve been told that this one will be just us for a half hour show.”
Grace asked, “What do you think about that.”
I said, “I think I agree with my coach. It’s a chance to witness and show a positive slant on people our age. We’ll either bore viewers or it will be liked. Miz Jones said that people wanted more of us. We’ll see.”
Grace said, “I don’t want to be on regardless.”
Alice said, “Don’t worry. We’ll made sure the filming is limited.”
We three went for a walk to get a little exercise. I found that standing didn’t hurt. Walking was good, too. Sitting wasn’t so good.
We returned to the house and all three of us were put to work preparing for supper. Missus Meadows asked, “Jerry, are you okay?”
“Yes, Ma’am. Sitting is the only thing that isn’t working well. Standing seems fine. I don’t mind helping.”
“I know, Jerry. You’re always willing to help. Alice works better when you two work together. I enjoy watching you two do things together.”
Alice said, “Come here and help me slice veggies.” I nodded. We cut up things together. As usual, working with Alice was enjoyable. I watched and participated in the cooking. We sat down later for supper when Mister Meadows and Mitch came in. Supper was nice and we enjoyed the fellowship. After supper, I was given the recliner on the love seat with Alice next to me. Mitch usually sat there but didn’t seem to mind when Grace pulled him onto the couch.
It wasn’t very late when Alice pulled me to my bedroom. She got a pill and a glass of water. I took the pill and drank the water. She said, “Do you want my help in undressing?”
I saw her mother at the door. I said, “I would love your help but I’m not sure your mother would approve.”
Missus Meadows said, “You’re right.” She smirked.
Alice blushed. Her mother added. “Actually, your father and I trust you if you want to stay with Jerry tonight. Both of you should retain some clothing though.” She giggled throatily and left the doorway.
Alice and I looked at each other, startled. She recovered first and grinned. “Back in an instant.’ She was as good as her word returning with a pair of “boy short” panties showing under a tee shirt. I had managed to pull off my clothes and pull on my sleeping boxers and a tee shirt. I lay on my back on the bed with the covers back. The door wasn’t wide open but was more than half closed. “Jerry, will we be okay like this?”
“Yes, my fair Galadriel. Let’s hold each other as we sleep.” She nodded and kissed me. She did mold her wonderful body to mine as she did that. She was lying on my unhurt side. We relaxed into sleep with her arms around me gently. It was wonderful.
In the morning, I woke to see her eyes just opening. I smiled. “We wake up together. I am well rested, too.”
“How’s your side, Jerry?”
“Much better. I don’t think either of us moved all night.” I smiled again. “Let’s go fix coffee and breakfast.”
She nodded. “I’ll need to go put clothes on. You do, too.”
I smiled and nodded. ‘Meet you in the kitchen?” She nodded. She went into the bathroom shutting the door behind her. I slowly got out of bed. The pain in my side was less than it had been. Moments later, Alice opened the door flashing her bottom as she went into her bedroom. I came through and closed the door. I washed my face and looked at my side. The helmet-shaped bruise was fading. I shaved and moved back into my room to dress. Once dressed, I went into the hall and walked easily into the kitchen. Alice was there. We started coffee and got breakfast things out.
By then, her mother entered the kitchen. “Ah, you’re working. How’s your side, Jerry?”
“It’s much better. I slept quietly all night. My nurse is tender and loving.”
Alice’s mother smirked. “I know. I peeked. You two look good together. We’ll get breakfast going now.” Alice and I didn’t comment though, in the back of my mind, I was glad we figured on leaving the door open with the possibility of a peek or two.
The three of us cooked breakfast. Grace came in to help. When it was done, Mitch and Mister Meadows came in to eat. After breakfast, Mitch and his father went back out to work. Grace and Missus Meadows talked to the two of us.
Grace said, “I peeked in on the two of you. You both looked happy.”
Alice said, “We were and are. I appreciate Mom trusting us.”
Her mom said, “You left the door open which was good.” She grinned. “You didn’t use much of that bed. You were so close together.” Grace nodded.
We blushed. Alice said, “I was concerned about Jerry’s side. It’s still a pretty bad bruise and he says that it’s better now. It must have really been bad.” She thought a second. “We need to pack for the trip to Jerry’s parents. We are expected in time for lunch.”
We helped clean up from breakfast and then headed to our bedrooms to pack. All the doors were open. Grace followed Alice into her room. She said, “You didn’t mind me looking?”
“Grace, we weren’t doing anything but sleeping.” She smiled. “I did enjoy sleeping with him.”
