Chapter 1: The Girl's Life

Life in this village is very good, but I never knew that my life was going to change so drastically. At first it was nothing, the usual life just getup whenever we wanted to, then have a late breakfast. After breakfast we used to go out stretch our legs, wash our mouth, have a bath, play, eat, watch some television and then sleep.

Oh, sorry I forgot to introduce myself, my name is Rani, I live in a village and whose name is forbidden to take for the security reasons, I can’t say for sure but many people say that I am most beautiful girl in the whole village and that I am going to fetch a lot of money to the village. Today is my 16th birthday and they are going to explain everything to me.

I am being summoned to the adult section, yes there are three sections in our village, one is for girls below sixteen years, second is for boys under sixteen years and the last is for the adults. Our village is surrounded by forest you can’t see in other section while standing in one.

To be able to see in other section you have to walk ten miles through forest. There are a lot of adults between each section so as no one passes or gets into the other section without the permission of the adults or the head.

We call them the devils of forest because they do not speak nor they allow anyone to even have a look in other section, I always wonder, what is there in other section that such a strong rule is placed that no one can wonder out of their allocated section.

But today I can freely pass this border, I am now being summoned to the elder’s section. You might be wondering that how do I know that I am being summoned, well a devil from the forest came near our section called out my name and said that I was summoned.

Here I am walking through forest headed towards the destination. As I cleared the forest I am confused because there is no one present nor any lights are turned on. After few minutes of searching for people I give up and sit in a corner, suddenly the light is turned on and everyone shouts happy birthday to you. Just imagine how I might be feeling.

I partied the whole night till nine in the morning, I was so tired that as soon as I hit the pillow I was out. I woke up at six in the evening and stretched my body, got up and brushed my teeth and showered. As the cold water hit my body, I realized that I woke up in a room necked, there were no cloths present.

I took a very short shower and started finding my cloths, to my utter shock there weren’t any cloths in the whole room. I took the towel wrapped around my body and tried to open the door of the room; it was locked. I waited patiently for some one to open the room so that I could ask her or him about my cloths.

But to my utter bad luck it was not possible, after waiting for a few hours I really started getting hungry so I banged the door. Within a few seconds a tray of food was slid from the bottom of the door. I ate it hungrily, and slid the tray out the same way it came. As soon as the tray went out the door a small pouch containing water was slid in.
