How I Became the New Santa

Chapter 1
As Santa Claus neared his retirement, he began to feel a sense of nostalgia wash over him. He had spent decades bringing joy and presents to children all around the world, but now it seemed like the weight of his responsibilities was starting to take its toll. His once-jolly demeanour had given way to a tired and worn expression, and his once-rosy cheeks had become pale and lined.
Despite his exhaustion, Santa knew that he couldn’t just up and quit. The magic of Christmas depended on him, and he couldn’t let down all the good little boys and girls who looked forward to his annual visit. So, he soldiered on, delivering gifts and spreading cheer as best he could.
But as the years went by, Santa began to notice changes in the world. Children were no longer content with simple toys and clothes; they wanted the latest gadgets and trendy fashions. And their parents, caught up in the commercialism of the season, pushed them to ask for more and more extravagant gifts.
One night, as Santa was finishing up his rounds, he sat down in his workshop, surrounded by piles of discarded toys and wrapping paper. He sighed heavily, feeling the weight of his responsibilities bearing down on him once again.
“What’s wrong, Santa?” asked one of his elves, noticing his boss’s melancholy mood.
“I don’t know if I can do this anymore,” Santa admitted. “The world has changed so much since I first started this job 4500 years ago. It seems like everyone’s lost sight of what’s truly important.”
