Chapter 4
Brad and Abby walked down the grassy aisle to the cheers and applause of everyone. Though it wasn’t a church service, many sprinkled the newlyweds with confetti. They led the procession inside, where countless good wishes were shared, with the women and some men wanting to see their rings.
Twenty minutes later, Frank and Anne ushered the wedding party and parents back to the garden area for their historic wedding photos. Pose after pose was taken with various pairings. Several more were taken as Brad and Abby sat in their limousine.
The DJ announced the wedding party was going on a short tour around Belleville to announce their wedding to the public with a small parade convoy of cars. Then they’d greet their guests. Blaring horns proclaimed their special day as they travelled the main streets and met another couple in their limo, also celebrating their day.
The wedding party returned to the Convention Centre, where Brad had a surprise for Scott. “Dad, I remember we had a deal for Abby’s hand in marriage. Will you and the others come with me?”
Brad led them past the opening of the horseshoe-shaped gardens to a grassy area by a parking lot.
“You didn’t!” Abby exclaimed, hearing the distinctive moo of a cow.
“Your dad and I had a deal, so I’m living up to my part of the bargain.” Those in the two families who knew the inside joke began to laugh as they saw five cows and five goats feeding on a bale of hay.
Abby shrieked when she saw the animals and playfully slapped Brad’s shoulder. “I contacted a local petting zoo and told them about the joke between your dad and me concerning cows and goats for your hand in marriage. The owner was gracious enough to bring five of each over so I could offer them to your dad.”
“I think it was a crazy idea, and I love you for it!” She beamed, kissing his cheek.
Brad introduced the owner of the animals. Frank took pictures of the symbolic handing over of the livestock for Abby’s hand in marriage and poses of them with the cows and goats.
“I still say it should have been five hundred of each,” Abby joked, recalling her comment from her with Brad and Scott.
“You’re lucky I didn’t give you to him for free,” Scott joked, and they laughed.
“People who see the pictures will wonder who Brad married—Abby or one of the cows,” Peter joked, and she tried to chase him several steps.
Abby kissed Brad, thanking him for going through the effort for the cows and goats. They made their way back inside, where they lined up to formally receive their guests.
One after the other shook hands or offered a hug and kiss to the cheek. Frank enjoyed the low cleavage each woman in Dan’s family revealed, and several other women guests. Several handed Brad or Abby an envelope to be opened later on.
The wedding party led the way to the main banquet room, where everyone took their assigned seat. Was it planned by Vicky or Angie that Cindy Taylor would sit beside Doug Hayward? Brian and Barbra Campbell sat with Wendy, Jennifer, Cathy, and Ben. Members of Dan’s family intermixed with other guests.
Jake stood, tapping his glass with a fork to get everyone’s attention. Brad was quick to give Abby one of the countless kisses they’d share throughout the evening. He used the microphone to announce the sequence of events to happen, with Father Williams blessing the meal and everyone attending. The serving of food and desert would be followed by speeches, and then the celebration dancing party.
“We’ll now have Abby and Brad cut their wedding cake, so it can be served in time for dessert,” Jake announced.
Brad and Abby walked over to their three-tier white frosted cake, Frank and Anne ready to take pictures and video of them. They playfully fed the other a chunk by hand, purposely smearing the icing on the other’s cheek.
Jake continued, “There will be a cash bar available once the dinner and speeches are over. Officer Robert Turner, a member of the Trenton Police Service, will be here with a portable breathalyzer to test those who may be considering drinking and driving. Should you register any amount on the scale, you will be asked to leave your car keys, have someone who is not drinking alcohol drive you home, or use the available taxi chits to get you home safely. You can return in the morning to get your car keys from the front desk of the hotel.”
Jake took the time to introduce everyone at the head table.
“I’m going to get so fucking wasted and see how high I can blow a reading on the breathalizer without passing out,” Ben commented to Cathy.
“Please try to behave and not act obnoxious,” she asked in a low voice.
“You’re such a fucking slut for letting your dad get you pregnant. You deserve an obnoxious husband.”
“Please, Ben, this is not the time or place to do this, especially on Brad and Abby’s wedding day,” she quietly pleaded.
“Why, because you don’t want people to know you fuck your dad more often than me and made a baby, and now you want to have another one with him?” He said it a little louder.
Cathy could feel her face warm as she glanced at the others at the table. “I love you,” Jenny smiled, taking her hand and sensing she felt uneasy. “I hate how he’s so mean to you,” she whispered.
“Thank you, Jenny; I love you too.”
The room fell silent as Father Williams stood and blessed Abby and Brad, the attending guests, the meal, and their special day.
The main meal of chicken and trimmings was served. White wine was available, along with diet pop and water. Conversations took place amongst the head table and guests at various tables.
“I still can’t believe we did this,” Brad commented to his new wife.
“At least we won’t be using a hospital room as a chapel,” she joked, leaning to kiss him.
“I think you’ll have to be careful if you lean over to talk with anyone who is seated. They’re going to get a nice view of your beautiful tits.”
