Prologue

For those who have read (or are reading) my epic tale No Contest, this story may get confusing, because I borrow characters from the earlier tale, but there is a difference. Since, as usual, my protagonist is named Joe Solomon, I gave that one’s Joe the name Saul Loman (his nom de plume in the epic). Saul isn’t the successful novelist either, known mostly as a poet and less so as a playwright. Otherwise the characters from the earlier tale remain mostly the same. --max
