Chapter 4
Tom called the bank owner and asked about the Fury I and the missing parts. He knew nothing of this and wanted more information. Telling him the story about Fury I and his employee’s ties with Fury II in England outraged this man because it was his money loaned in both deals. I asked him would he sell both boats to us for the right price. He asked when and I said today but I want all the parts back out of the warehouses here and in England. He asked me to give him a little time and he would call back. I thanked him and hung up. Tom called Marty and asked him if he could make a stop on the way to England with Fury I. He asked about the stuff in the warehouse and was told it was already packed and ready to load on 2 trucks and taken to England to reinstall on both boats. I told him that I was waiting for a call back from the banker with numbers and okay to move them, so have the trucks standing by. Have the new guy go get food and catch up like before. Marty now knew where the stop was. He checked the GPS and set it, also told Ron to have gear ready for a quick dive.
The call came from the banker and 1.6 million was okay for both and the girls were to meet him that afternoon to finalize all of it. Marty was called and told it was a go.
The Pilots were called and told late afternoon early evening to England for 3. I went with the girls but let them handle most of the transactions. The banker said the police (Interpol) got involved with the 2 guys because it was 2 different countries involved. They had already been picked up by the police. We were done by 5:00 and at the airport by 6:30. The ship had a communication station onboard and the owner’s papers and all was faxed to it for both boats so customs would not be a problem. Our boat will be there sometime tomorrow afternoon. I called Ron to find out where the boat was docked and told in London Gateway on the Thanes River and Marty could access it with no problem. Andrea (the new guy) said that the Fury II was movable and we might want to bring it to Vissingen Norway, for fewer problems with the transfer of goods, same country and same flag on the ships both under Norway controls. Both Marty and Ron Agreed. Tom called the trucking company to reroute the loads. Had the pilots adjust the flight plan and Jill called for hotels.
I needed to sit down with Linda and find out what her future plans were. I asked her about her job and she said she loved it. I told her I would have to take it away because she couldn’t hold both. She would also need to fill hers as that is what a CFO does. After another “ OH My God” yes, yes, yes and a hug.
We were getting ready to land. Linda and I went over making divisions and small companies (parts for cable) finding dock space in New York for two of the boats and a warehouse for storage. Location for the offices and who to hire. We played the game on Jill but she got upset until she found out she had Linda’s job. Again the Oh my god and that’s when I wanted that for a company’s name. Oceanic Marine and we would have to find a “ G “ to fit in. I was going to look for Fury III but I don’t think it’s what we want. Our existing boat will be named Fury III. I hope Marty will be okay with that. As we set down a call came in.
Marty let me know that the packages were picked up and all is okay. He’s about 3 hours out and hungry. I asked if it was alright to rename our first boat Fury III and he thought that was a good idea. Ron and Andrea were just loading Fury II with the warehouse items and they would be underway. Fury II was not as bad as they thought. Tom told him we would see them in three hours. He contacted the pilots and booked them rooms and reservations for food with us. Tom made sure Jill handled her new job but they were ahead of me, it was done already. Tom called Carl and told him he had two new boats, Fury I and Fury II one for now and one a little later. Tom asked him about staying in New York and if so could he find us a dock and warehouse for a 74 ft, 90 ft and a 94 ft set of Steel Cats and with our own fuel depot also anything else the manager of a Division should need, oh yeah, find us a “G” word for Oceanic Mechanical... (OMG) for the new name!
I asked the girls if they wanted to go back and got a “No-Not with London so close”. I told them I would take them tomorrow by skiff. Tom told the pilots to leave any time and gave them a $1000.00 tip each. He told them to contact the girls and they would transfer the funds. After eating they left.
Tom sat with Marty and explained most of the day. He was glad it was me and not him. I asked about the cargo and was told it was 2 chests and 1 box but the GPS was the west coast of Africa almost equal with the Caribbean. He said he was taking the Fury I and Andrea. Ron was going to get a friend of Andrea’s and return with Fury II while the seas were calm. Tom asked if he trusted Andrea and was told if not I hope he could swim, and I don’t think he was kidding. I sat down with Andrea and talked to him. It was funny no one told him a salary or where he was going, just ask him if he wanted to work. He liked what he saw and if Lou didn’t come back could be a first mate. He could not go wrong. Tom gave him $ 5,000 for pocket money.
Tom, after breakfast, loaded the skiff with the girls and headed to London. While the girls were in the stores I hunted for books on the coins and jewels. I called the broker for the bars and asked him if he knew of anyone for coins and jewels. He told me to hang up and someone would call. Five minutes later a man called and found out my location A few minutes later a man and woman showed up. “Going for Tea,” he asked what I had and about how much. The woman handed me a card and was a gemologist and also what and how much. I flipped 2 coins and a hand full of stones at them. The woman said these were from The Kings collection missing in 1681, the man was in shock at the coins cause they were $35,000 EACH IN VALUE. The broker wasn’t kidding about having tons of products.
My phone rang and Ron said we had a situation. After opening the first new monitor boxes the 2nd box and 3rd box was filled with Euro’s about 1.4 million. The Bankers must have stolen it. I told Ron to call Marty and get him there, and he handed Marty the phone. “Marty, load the 2 crates and head for Africa now. Pay cash for fuel if you need it and call when you’re out of Europe.” He and Andrea left then. Ron was told to slow down and play stupid about loading but call when he was done.
Getting back to the man and woman Tom asked how much they could handle and was told $50 million each wholesale. I asked if they could come to the states for viewing and both said yes. I gave them mine and Linda’s cell numbers and the coins and gems as gifts. They couldn’t believe that. I explained I had to go and would be in touch next week.
Ron rang again. Two people had shown up, Tom told him to put it on speaker and started to talk about he was to open all the crates for inspection and to help where ever possible. Telling the Agents that we were leaving when loaded and didn’t want any thought that we had anything to do with this. Also, would it be possible to seal the crates so customs wouldn’t have to waste time redoing what you did? They called for customs to help and they thanked us. He said he needed his skiff back so he could load it. I called the girls and they said okay, the crews coming together and these people are Genius’ and I just found my “ G” word for “Oh My God”, Geniuses.
Marty called and said the GPS was 114 miles west of Guinea. I told him to fill in Africa and asked how deep and was told 115 ft, no problem. I told him to head to the Caribbean and check the GPS maybe 1 more. Also, arm yourself and keep an eye on Andrea. It was time to talk to the girls before things got complicated and they would want out. I think Linda figured out part of what was going on but didn’t know if it was legal or not. I told her we had stolen nothing, except from 500-year-old pirates. Jill had no clue, but Linda said it was alright so it was good.
Ron called and said the Police gave us thanks and he would be gone in an hour. Emptying, filling fuel and water then leaving. The truckers would send a bill and I told Ron to tip them.
