Chapter 3
Tom called Linda and asked her to come out and bring Mary, the contractor’s niece, with them and also any layouts or pictures of homes. Marty needed to have the property map available so certain areas could be planned and started soon. We would need separate electric, WIFI, phone, and security to be put into play. A call came in for a repair and it was forwarded to Carl. The boat was still in Brooklyn Harbor and Ron unloaded the skiff and headed to get parts and meet Carl. He left the dock and moved to meet Carl in the area. Within 2 hours the repairs were finished (unheard of) and the company could not believe what just happened. I don’t think Carl and Ron could imagine what they just caused.
The girls and the contractor, Mike, showed up and looked around. The girls looked at a brochure on the cabins and the boys worked out the other needs, mainly security. Driveways needed to be changed, gates put in and an elevated floor was a must. A bank-type vault (not cheap) but a must We thought with all the other places with GPS coordinates that we would need a vault about 50’ square with 2 walls of assorted sized safety deposit boxes. The contractor could do both but needed to start soon because of the weather. We told the contractor (Mike) to start to lay it out and give them one day and somewhat of a price.
Tom asked Marty to find the 2nd heavy chest and get it to the room. Tom found out it was in the room and Marty would get it opened. Tom called Linda and told her to man the office with a Temp and find her passport as they were going to the Netherlands and England also book a private plane for tomorrow afternoon.
Marty was done when Tom got back, opened the chest and knew more now. 164 bars, 2 bags of stones and a bag of 15th-century coins. The bars at the last price were 2.3 million. A call from Tom to the broker and they accepted the two million for the account and would cash out the 300,000 thousand for Europe. He told them to meet him at the airport. Marty knew now he was up to no good. If he only knew!
Later Mike called with numbers on the house which was a little high but explained the reasons. Tom made a quick check with Marty and told him to start. “Mike make sure permits are pulled and no problems,” said Tom and got his account number and transferred a down payment. Mike was impressed and ready to go. Mike was told not to cut corners and if not sure run it by one of them.
I don’t know whether Linda was ready for this but would find out soon enough. Things were going to change soon. Contacting the bank about the price and availability of finance was difficult due to language. Also about any other prospective buyers.
Tom called, told Ron to get ready for a boat inspection but not of what. He asked Carl to find Lou if he could or an equal. Things were moving fast now. He told Ron we would pick him up and bring his passport. He then called the charter company and redid the time and people count.
I got Marty to start getting the bars together to take. Tom asked Linda for a quick meeting before leaving to get ready. Mike’s niece left with him so no other people were around so, he made out a quick legal Statement of Confidentiality Agreement for the company and made her an officer so she could sign things when we were not there. She needed help also. This was definitely an early meal. She and Marty came in almost at the same time. I asked Linda about the companies paperwork and she said it was mainly in the office, but a small amount was here. Tom asked her to go get it if she could and she was gone. Tom told Marty about the Confidentiality Agreement Form about being an officer and why also about a raise in salary. He had no problem with any of it.
We headed for food and she rode with us. Tom explained to her about moving up the flight, picking up Ron and going to Atlanta first to make a deposit. I handed her the Confidentiality Agreement and she looked hurt saying that she would never and I stopped her. “Please just sign this so we can talk,” and she did. I explained her promotion. She said she could electronically deposit the funds and I told her I didn’t think the wire could hold 4.3 million in gold. Doe eyes and a ‘Wow”. Tom asked her if she could help with tomorrow? She said she wasn’t sure. If yes make sure they have clothes and passports. Set a wake up for six AM.
