Chapter 42
Consternation. When my hospital bed was found empty...
The plastic surgeon was in disarray, filled with dismay, the subject of his next publication was gone.
I was legally an adult ... the accounting office had no one to bill. That caused the CFO distress and discomposure.
The kitchen was surprised, the meal delivery staff was amazed.
Security sent out an alarm, panic set in. The search was intense.
On the home front ... shock.
Although ... a couple of nurses expressed satisfaction. I had gotten away ... how? no one knew ... but whereever I was was better than the life I had left.
Over the nest couple of months, the evidence that I had ever been in Australia started disappearing. Folders missing ... critical sheets gone from others. Fingerprints taken when I was admitted were still in the record ... but the prints weren’t mine. Some-One had substituted others.
One is a true spy ... very good at her trade and invisible when she’s working.
Several months after I was truly gone she said, “That was so much fun.”
“What?” said Seven.
“Nothing,” responded One.
“That’s what I thought.”
The pair of them grinned. Altogether, they, the seven, turned to me, “Who do you want to be?”
So ... I am 20 ... a New Zealand college student studying in East Lansing Michigan, Princessapality, North America. There are NO scars, wounds or any signs of injury. Foreign students study free ... just like Germany.
Sometimes Six and I walk through the mirror. We go two or three times a year. Fifteen minutes is fifteen minutes ... no matter how long you are gone. Chaos can be such fun.
