This is the story of my life and it is a work of creative nonfiction. I’ve portrayed events as they happened to the best of my memory. I’ve tried to capture the essence of each experience. Human memory is more like an impressionist painting than a photograph. I can recall the emotions and feelings of abuse in vivid detail while other factors are obscured or missing. While all the accounts in this book are true, I’ve changed some names and some identifying details to protect the privacy of the people involved.
