Historical Sex Story: In the summer of 1819, upper-class families all over England with daughters of the proper age were holding councils of war. Their daughters were going tobe presented to society, officialy to the court, and most critically to the men who would marry that year. Everyone hoped that one of those men would marry the daughter of the house. The Tarletons want a suitable husband for Anne. She wants a particular man, and she wants him to love her.

Peter, the editor, suggests that a list of the main characters and locales would help. Here are the 2 main families as they are at the beginning of the story:

Grant Family:
Parents: Earl and Countess Fenhurst
Living Children:
Hester (now Mrs. Whitley)
George, Courtesy Viscount Fenhurst
Joan (now Baroness Driller)
Lionel
Sophia
Seat: Glassmere Hall
London House Darrow House

Tarleton Family
Parents: Marquess of Stroud and his wife the Marchioness
Living Children:
Deborah (Now Countess Standish)
James, Courtesy Earl Dorwich)
. (Married to Lenora)
Charles
Anne
Seat: Stroud Hall
London houses: Stroud House, Dorwich House.

Courtesy titles are titles that had formerly been given to an ancestor of the family. They are used by the heir, but do not entitle him to a vote in the House of Lords. The use varies; James is widely known as “Dorwich”; George is usually “Lord George.”
