Every time I was deployed overseas, we would always host our various allied militaries and various dignitaries and diplomats for key Canadian events (Canada Day and New Year’s Day). We would always serve “Moose Milk”. Our guests would inevitably ask about this “milk” and we would regale them with stories about the difficulty of having to milk a moose. As many had no idea what a moose was, we had to explain to them that a moose was much larger than an elk. The guests were always astounded.
At the end of the event, we would always confess that the moose had nothing to do with the provision of the milk and we would all have a great laugh.
