She shook her head as she knew that she could be easily destroyed if she did. She again shook her head as she pushed the mating urges down.
Her first was one of the last large males that was left with her people. A male almost as large as her and almost as powerful.
Though she didn’t think that he could defeat her, she still had to watch all the threats and he was the biggest. She narrowed her eyes at him as she watched him work on the bridge.
A sudden urge took hold of her as she rushed to her secure room. She stood above a small belt as she started to put out over a thousand eggs every twenty minutes.
She had been full, so she went for two hours, putting out over six thousand more. She smiled as she now had more to pilot the ships that the builder ships were making.
She felt warm knowing that as soon as they were passed this part of space, the humans had no way they could win. A rather toothy smile dominated her face as she thought of the humans as food.
Deep within the Palace, Derrick was watching the last three patients recovering. His main scientists were almost ready to release, the prime Brown was closer than them.
Derrick remembered the sacrifice that Brown had made. He also wasn’t about to forget it as he had something special planned, something befitting the man.
He then shook his head as he thought, knowing Brown, he’d decline it. A smile came to his lips as he thought of the way that Kimon had reacted, yes, a little subterfuge.
He turned from his thoughts as he surveyed the charts on Brown. His lungs were almost completely cured, as were the breaks and bruises that he had.
A noise from the bio-bed caught his attention at that mome3nt. He looked at an even crest-fallen Brown, “I’m sorry sir, sorry that I failed as I did.”
Derrick tightened up as he looked at Brown with an incredulous face. He then snapped at him, “I don’t want to hear that again out of your mouth, Captain. In case you haven’t noticed, we are still here and still alive.”
“But sir,” Brown started, only for Derrick to hold up a hand, quieting him.
“I said, I don’t want to hear anymore, you didn’t fail, not by a long shot. Now shut up, sit up and prepare for visitors,” Derrick said with authority. He then stepped aside as an older man and woman walked in.
Brown’s eyes lit up, then a scowl came to his face. “Hello Mother, Father,” he said with a foot of ice in his voice. “To what extreme displeasure do I owe the two of you bothering to see me.”
“Hey boy, that’s no way to talk,” the older man started, then Brown interrupted.
“What, the sperm donor and incubator that, as you said, hatched me? Why in the hell would I want to talk, let alone see the both of you disgusting pieces of shit!” Brown was almost screaming.
Two mechanical arms came out to restrain him, then they were ripped loose from the wall. “Captain,” Derrick said, causing all there to freeze.
“I thank you, sire, but no, thank you, can you have them thrown out?” Brown said.
“Captain, you need to calm as your readings are dangerously high,” Mary’s voice cut through the room.
“Yeah, then get the two of these pieces of trash out of here,” Brown said, his face becoming redder and redder.
“I ought to,” the older man started as the woman started to cry.
“Do what dad,” Brown said snidely. Kick the ass of a man that’s down and confined to a bio-bed. Yeah, come on old fucker I’ll still beat your diseased ass!”
At that moment, Brown started to cough uncontrollably, and all the readings started to spike. Then he started to gasp as he suddenly dropped to the bed and his readings tanked.
Derrick turned to the red-faced man as he roared, “Get out! If you try to enter this room again, I will have you thrown into a cell.”
The man turned his angry face toward Derrick, then tried to throw a punch. Several beams struck the male as more than a few alarms were going off.
The woman shrank back as the visage of Mary appeared, “Attempting to harm the Emperor is a death sentence. This case will be tried in high court, “til then.” Two huge burly males grabbed the older man as he struggled to get loose. The older woman started to cry as she sank to the floor.
Derrick looked at Mary as several apparatus appeared from the wall and worked on Brown. Derrick turned his angry look toward the man as he was carried away screaming.
He then heard a weak, whimpering, whisper where the older woman was. “My little Mack, I am so sorry that he treated you so bad. I hope that you can forgive a weak and useless woman.”
She sat there crying and staring at the floor saying the same thing over and over. Mary looked at Derrick as she nodded then a few minutes later, Brown opened his eyes.
He looked around the room and sighed, then he noticed his mother shrunk into a ball in the corner. He started to open his mouth when Derrick shook his head no.
“Your father is in a cell, he tried to attack me. Mary intervened. I was mad enough to damn near kill him, might have, not sure. I’ll try him in court when I have time, which isn’t much. Do you wish to attend?” Derrick asked.
A small smile came to his face as he was about to speak when he heard his mother repeat what she had before. “How long has she been like that?” he asked.
“Since he was taken away and Mary said that attacking me is a death sentence. I think she’s in shock, do you mind if Mary examines her?” Derrick asked.
Mack Brown thought it over a moment as she repeated her apology again, he then nodded. This proceeded her to start screaming as Mary guided her to an empty bio-bed.
The terrified look on her face soon relaxed as Mary administered a sedative. They were both looking at the extremely distraught woman as she closed her eyes.
Brown turned back to Derrick as he nodded, “Yes, sir, I wish to be there and see the man brought as low as he tried to bring me. As for death, hmmmm depends on him and his mouth.”
Derrick smiled at Brown as he understood what the man meant. “I’ll make sure when we have the time, though, as I said, that’s gonna be a while. Right now, after all the shit that happened, you are going to be here longer.”
Brown nodded, “I expected as much, though I didn’t really ever want to see him again, especially after what he said. He was against me joining the rangers, kind of glad I refused to listen.”
“Rest and let Mary heal you,” Derrick said, then snapped his fingers. “I think that I should, Kimon, ugh. Brigider General Dempsy.”
Derrick was about to say more when the Asian man walked in with an Asian woman behind him. “I seem to know that you needed me sir?”
Derrick grinned then shook his head at the man. “It seems that our hero had need of your unique skills.” Derrick held up a hand to quiet Brown.
Kimon looked at the man on the bio-bed and nodded as he passed a hand over the man’s chest, then legs. “Umm I see, not too bad, it should take a few hours.”
Brown looked at the asian man as his mouth dropped open, then turned to stare at Derrick. Derrick reached down and closed Brown’s mouth as he nodded.
“So how are the other two?” Derrick asked.
“Kimison, is close to fully healed, though he won’t leave ‘til Rayburn is up. He took a great deal of damage, I have had two sessions with him and most of the death injuries are better. His body is still weak, and it will take at least another day before he is up. I apologize, sir, but I can not go faster, or he will not be able to take it,” Kimon said as he concentrated.
Derrick nodded as he patted Kimon on the shoulder, “I should go see him as I am sure his wife is far more worried than you are.”
“Indeed, she is sire, I had to put her to sleep to work on him. She has excellent reflexes, almost as good as my wife,” Kimon said.
This brought a bright smile to her face. “As a master I have to keep up with the other masters.” Here she gave Derrick another bright smile as she looked at Kimon with pride.
Derrick sighed as he wished he had time to stay with his men. He walked to another room that had four beings in it, two human males and two female Delcons.
Rayburn was barely awake as he stroked his yellow-furred wife Cetalina. She was like a deadly guard as she looked at the door with deadly intent.
“Cetalina,” Derrick said as he walked to Rayburn. “I have it on good authority that you might be out in a few days,” this caused Cetalina’s ears to perk up.
“Will he be able to go back to work?” she asked, a look of hope in her eyes.
Derrick nodded as he turned to Kimison, “I heard that you refused to leave until Rayburn is up, is that true?”
Medalina turned her blood-red, furry face to Derrick as she slightly growled. “Yes, husband is being, I think you call it an ass?” When Derrick nodded, she smiled and growled at Kimison a bit.
It took all Derrick had not to laugh at the look of pain on Kimison’s face. “I can’t leave him like this, I feel that it’s all my fault. I should have made sure that the regulator was attuned higher,” he said. Then, in a near whisper, he said, “I almost killed him, I won’t be able to live with myself.”
Shit Derrick thought, this seemed to be going around too damn much. The main problem was that he really didn’t have a solution lor time for it right now.
He noticed that Medalina was perplexed herself, “Sire, I am at a loss what to do for him.”
Derrick nodded as he patted her arm, I am afraid that only two people will be able to help him. I am afraid that he himself is going to take a bit longer to help.”
Medalina sighed as she nodded to Derrick. “I am nothing if not patient.” This, of course, drew a look of increduness from her cousin Cetalina.
Mary had been monitoring everything, plus, she was searching the next area of space for more Primes. A weak beeping drew her attention to a small planet right on the edge of the expanded Empire.
She carefully guided a probe to it as she continued to scan the planet. A perplexed look came to her features as the reading she got was, by far, very confusing.
She decided to launch another far more advanced probe as the first hit the atmosphere, the first was destroyed! She immediately cloaked the second and changed course as an energy weapon hit where it was.
Almost immediately an energy shield encapsulated the planet. This was by far a new situation. Though the shield wasn’t even as strong as the Imperial planet, it was stronger than any she had seen before.
Mary started to go through all her records as she at first found no mention of a shield like this. Almost a half hour later, she came upon a planet called Manasla, an even more than suspicious people.
Mary went into deep thought mode as she saw that this one was going to be far harder to convince. That’s when her advanced probe detected two instead of just one prime.
It seemed that one was far more powerful than the other that was why she hadn’t detected them. Another blast nearly caught the probe as she quickly changed its energy signature.
Yes, she thought this one was going to be hard to convince and get to. She shook her head as she was going to have the Emperor’s help with this one.
With as much as the Emperor had to deal with, she really didn’t want to add to that. She immediately sent a signal to Derrick’s communicator.
