Chapter 1

Strangers in the night: 1.

The air was redolent of burned ham and singed hair. The sweater dressed beautiful girl with the astounding cleavage must have heard something ... a moan or a groan ... or some slight change in the tone of one of the multitudinous machines attached to the patient in the chrome and white bed because her magazine fluttered to the floor as she leaped to her feet, gave out a squeak, and poetry in motion ... fled. Proceedings of the Naval Observatory.

A Compendium of Recent Discoveries as relates to Celestial Bodies observable.

<What?>

<You have got to be kidding me!>

<She's blonde ... she cannot pronounce half the words.>

<Surely none over three syllables.>

<Impossible!>

<Somebody flip it to the article she was looking at ... it must be nothing but pictures.>

<I looked ... not picture one.>

Listen up!

<Hey! Quiet down. The Boss is here.>

Ok, guys. We have finally gotten to the point that there aren't enough worthy nearly dead.

<Huh?>

How do you want to do this? Draw straws? Roll dice? Cut cards? Wrestle?

<He gets the winner?>

Or the loser ... how ever you seven decide.

<Who is she?>

Who?

<The girl?>

Who?

<The girl ... the sweater babe. You know ... beautiful face and poetry in motion.>
