Chapter 14: Teacher, you don’t want this to happen either, do you?
““Did you buy this breakfast?” Chloe Winters was taken aback.
“Yes.” The class leader nodded, visibly flustered, “I don’t know if you’d like it.
If it doesn’t suit your taste, I’ll get something else next time.”
Chloe Winters was dumbfounded on the spot.
Then, she felt heat rushing to her face.
Once again, she had done something foolish!
But then, she realized a far more serious issue.
The breakfast wasn’t bought by Ethan Cole!
Why didn’t he buy her breakfast?!
Chloe Winters felt a lump in her chest, an indescribable discomfort.
In her anger and embarrassment.
She grabbed the breakfast, and threw it in the garbage bin: “I don’t like it, don’t bother getting it for me in the future.”
After saying this, she stormed back to her seat, silently fuming.
Ethan Cole watched the class leader, his face full of hurt, speechless, “Why did you bother with all this when you were doing just fine?”
The class leader scratched his head: “Actually, I kind of like Winters as well.
Seeing how you didn’t pursue her.
I thought I might have a chance to succeed.”
Many students in the class were bound to like Chloe Winters given her looks.
It was just that Ethan Cole was so persistent in the past, driving away all the other contenders.
But now that everyone knew Ethan Cole had given up, many felt hopeful and were ready to make their move.
Ethan Cole facepalmed.
What was going on here?
The class leader returned to his place, visibly disappointed.
He couldn’t fathom why he failed so quickly.
Was he not as persistent as Ethan Cole?
Then Grace Bennett came in.
Ethan Cole asked, “Why are you so late today, have you had breakfast?”
“I have,” Grace Bennett responded quietly.
After putting down her backpack.
She unzipped it and pulled out a pink sachet.
She glanced around.
Ensuring no one was watching.
Then she quickly shoved it into Ethan Cole’s hand: “I made this.
To thank you for helping me find a part-time job.
I put dried osmanthus and a talisman inside, it’s not expensive, hope you don’t mind.”
She quickly pulled out a book and pretended to read it earnestly.
But she couldn’t help glancing at Ethan Cole from the corner of her eye.
Feeling nervous yet anticipatory.
Fearful that Ethan Cole might not like it, yet hopeful he’d say he does.
Ethan Cole’s eyes lit up.
The sachet was finely made.
It was even embroidered with the words ‘Wade Bennington every passing year’.
He held it up to his nose, sniffed it.
The faint, refreshing scent of the osmanthus was pleasing.
Ethan Cole noticed there were wounds on Grace Bennett’s hand.
Upon closer inspection.
There were numerous tiny needle pricks on her fingers.
He felt a pang of guilt, “Did these wounds come from making the sachet?”
Grace Bennett pulled her hand away, murmuring, “There was no moon last night, it was quite dim.
So I accidentally pricked myself a few times, it’s nothing.”
Grace Bennett’s family didn’t have good financial conditions.
So, she didn’t turn on the light.
Instead, she sat by the window, sewing the sachet for Ethan Cole.
“Silly girl, I love it, and will treasure it for my entire life,” Ethan Cole said, warmth flowing through his heart.
Perhaps her late arrival today was due to staying up late crafting this sachet.
Considering she only got home after ten o’clock last night.
Hearing Ethan Cole say he liked it, the corners of Grace Bennett’s mouth slightly upturned.
Suddenly, her mood was as blooming as spring flowers.
A sweet joy spread from the depths of her heart, traveling throughout her body.
It seemed like every cell was bursting with happiness.
This strange feeling made her feel incredibly attached to the moment.
“Ethan Cole, the class teacher is calling for you!” Hannah Reed shouted toward Ethan Cole from the doorway.
