Chapter 13: How can there be such lovely girls in the world?
Ethan Cole and Grace Bennett turned their heads to the source of the voice.
They saw Hannah Reed rushing towards them angrily.
She glared at them, “What are you doing!”
“We...” Grace Bennett started, unsure of what to say.
Ethan Cole frowned, “What are you screaming about?”
Hannah Reed was very angry.
Pointing at Ethan Cole, she accused, “On one hand, you’re pursuing Chloe Winters, and on the other, you’re ambiguous with this woman. You’re nothing but scum!”
“Clear up your words,” Ethan Cole turned bitter, “I’ve said it before, I’ve given up on Chloe Winters.”
“Ha. Well,” Hannah Reed sneered, “Who doesn’t know your deep-rooted feelings for Chloe Winters.
How could you possibly give up so easily?
If you break up with this woman right now, I won’t tell Chloe Winters what I saw today.”
Ethan Cole didn’t want to waste his words on her anymore.
With a dismissive wave of his hand, he said, “Do as you please. Please move aside.”
His nonchalant attitude further infuriated Hannah Reed.
She turned her anger towards Grace Bennett, “How could you be so shameless, meddling in other people’s relationships?
If you had any dignity left, you should have taken your leave.”
Grace Bennett’s eyes turned red in an instant.
Tears began to well up in her eyes.
She held her breath, trying to keep the tears from falling.
She wished to step back, to distance herself from Ethan Cole.
However, she found her wrist gripped tightly by him.
And then.
A deep handprint appeared on Hannah Reed’s face.
The sound of the slap was unusually crisp.
Hannah Reed covered her slapped face.
In disbelief, she looked at Ethan Cole, “You hit me?!”
“Smack!”
As soon as she finished speaking, another slap landed on her other cheek.
Ethan Cole spoke calmly.
But his words gave Hannah Reed a chill.
“Grace Bennett is under my protection. For every time you bully her, I’ll hit you twice,” he warned.
Hannah Reed had never been slapped twice in a row like this in her life before.
She wanted to make threats.
But the moment she met Ethan Cole’s icy gaze, she couldn’t utter a word.
The Ethan Cole she was seeing now seemed like a stranger.
He seemed nothing like the Ethan Cole from her memories. The one who had no dignity and would only humbly please Chloe Winters.
Hannah Reed turned her head and ran away.
Not until she was a distance away, she stopped,
And yelled at Ethan Cole, “You wait for me! This matter isn’t over!”
Ethan Cole clenched his fist, causing Hannah Reed’s heart to tremble. She ran away again.
When he turned his head, he saw Grace Bennett’s face covered with tears.
Ethan Cole panicked immediately.
He hurriedly wiped the tears off her face.
“Don’t cry. That woman deserves to be punished. Wait here; I’ll go and beat her again,” he said.
“No,”
Grace Bennett gripped Ethan Cole’s arm.
Sniffling thickly.
Her crying was partially due to the humiliation from Hannah Reed.
Nevertheless, it was his words about him being her protection that truly broke her composure.
She had never experienced such a feeling of being protected before.
Her heart was filled with ripples that refused to calm down.
“Don’t worry, as long as I’m here, no one can bully you,” he reassured her.
“Yeah, thank you,”
Grace Bennett lowered her head to hide her shyness.
Ethan Cole, such a good person.
Only when Grace Bennett had completely calmed down, did Ethan Cole take her back to the library.
Like yesterday, they went to the restaurant when it was almost noon.
The day was as busy as the day before.
At ten o’clock in the evening, Ethan Cole pulled Grace Bennett to leave.
They had school tomorrow after all.
