"How are you feeling?" Lisette asked Tyra the next morning.
"My leg feels better, but I feel like a prisoner!"
"You need to allow your leg to heal," Lisette said. "But I think you could sit on a cushioned bench if Tristan were to carry you down the stairs."
"I would wager it would be the first time Tristan has carried any woman from a bed, rather than to one!"
Lisette laughed. "You would win that wager quite easily, I am sure!"
Lisette called for Tristan, who carried Tyra down to the sitting room and placed her on a cushioned bench.
"Did you discover anything?" Tyra asked.
"Besides Daphne's desire to be ploughed repeatedly by Tristan?" Lisette teased. "No."
"We'll continue searching the house inch by inch," Tristan said, ignoring Lisette's teasing. "Hopefully, we'll discover something before Matthias returns."

At the Grinning Griffin, Matthias did not encounter an irate Iosif, and Dari was careful to treat Matthias formally to ensure she gave nothing away. Immediately following breakfast, Matthias and his companions departed the inn for Newtown, with Peter electing to travel with them.
