Chapter 37: Day 54
It was long after mid-night, and Patricia and Bron were asleep. Sierra lit a lamp, then brought water in a pitcher and a basin. The pair washed their hands and faces, and once they were as clean as they were going to get, Sierra took away the basin and returned with bread and ale, which they shared.
"Thank you for your assistance," Matthias said quietly, so as not to disturb Sierra's mother and brother. "A reward is in order."
Sierra smiled and said equally quietly, "I am grateful for your help and protection. No reward is necessary."
"And yet," Matthias replied, "I believe it is right."
"May I choose the reward?" Sierra asked with a smile.
"Ask, and I will give it proper consideration."
"Come to my bed, so I may show my thanks and receive my reward of choice."
"That is truly what you desire?"
"Yes, my Lord. You are handsome, kind, generous, and protective; I desire to be with you. I am sure my reward will be as pleasurable as I am positive my Lord is a skilled ploughman who knows his way around untilled lands."
"Your mother and brother are asleep, and we would disturb them."
Sierra smiled, rose, picked up two quilts, and took Matthias' hand. She led him from the house and guided him to a lush part of the pasture, where she spread the quilts. She quickly shed her clothes, causing Matthias to smile and quickly disrobe. They came together in an embrace, with Sierra pressing her firm body against Matthias' muscular one.
Two hours later, they got up and went to the stream, which ran across the pasture, and they washed. This time, Matthias thought, they were actually relatively clean. They returned to the quilts and lay down on an unsoiled section to allow the warm night air to dry their bodies.
"Did I please you, my Lord?" Sierra asked.
"You did! And your cries of pleasure tell me you received the reward you desired."
"Repeatedly! My Lord may come to me at any time!"
"Do you wish to marry?" Matthias asked.
"I do, but a husband would take me away from my mother and brother, and there would be nobody to tend the flock."
Matthias considered and thought of a possible solution, one which would work fine in Nystria, but which so-called modern thinking in 2024 would consider beyond the pale for a girl of sixteen.
