Chapter 4
There were no more ‘fashion shows’ before the girls went on their spring break trip. I passed my time looking at porn on the computer and exercising in my home gym. I was never sore nor did I have any pain. My daughter told me that my ‘check up’ at the clinic was next week so I had to tell her that I thought my sight was getting better. I knew when the doctor check my eyes he would know so there was no use hiding the truth. But I kept using my cane. All the other ‘improvements’ I kept to myself.
I was walking down to the barn, my daughter was at work, Nina was back at college, when this blond woman stepped out from the corner of my house.
“I see you’re walking pretty good without that cane!”
“Who the hell are you?”
“My name is Sara Owens. Better known as ‘test subject #2’ at the clinic. You are ‘test subject #1’. We passed each other in the hall the morning of our treatment.”
“You were the lady in the wheelchair?”
“That’s right. I had arthritis so bad I could not walk. I also suffered from diabetes along with my AMD. Now I am cured of everything. I’m feeling better than I have felt in 50 years. I imagine you know what I am talking about.”
“Yes. That treatment for AMD really works wonders!”
“Everyone else got the treatment for AMD and yes, it works. You and I were the only outliers. We received something different. Something special.”
“How do you know all this?”
“Before I got sick, I was an investigative reporter for ‘The Truth’. Remember that 30 minute show on after the news at night?”
