Chapter 22: The Man Who Owned The Entire Block
The Snow Pavilion Catering Group?
Seeing the reward, Ethan raised an eyebrow. He knew this group well.
The Snow Pavilion Catering Group was a major player in Manhattan’s high-end dining scene. Its president was a legendary strong businesswoman who started in her thirties. In just seven or eight years, she transformed a small restaurant into a powerhouse that now dominated nearly half of the city’s luxury catering market.
The Snow Pavilion itself was the group’s flagship high-end Chinese restaurant, blending modern elegance with classical garden aesthetics. It was one of the most prestigious and expensive venues in New York.
“I’m treating tonight,” Ethan said.
Owning 15% of the group made future dinners much more convenient.
“Sure!” Ava replied happily. Eating with Ethan was always a joy.
“Let’s go. We’re heading to The Snow Pavilion.”
Since his car was still in the shop for repairs, Ethan casually grabbed a Citi Bike. Ava sat on the back, hugging his waist as they rode toward the restaurant.
Twenty minutes later, they arrived.
[Ding!]
[Location reached. Punch in?]
“Punch in.”
[Punch-in successful!]
[Congratulations, you have acquired 15% shares of The Snow Pavilion Catering Group.]
With that, Ethan instantly became the second-largest shareholder of the powerful catering empire.
He parked the shared bike and was about to head inside when a surprised voice called out.
“Ava, you’re here too?”
Turning around, Ethan saw a group of young men and women approaching.
Among them, a pretty girl (about 8.5/10) spoke excitedly.
“Senior Fang?”
Seeing Fang Man, Ava was also surprised.
“Senior Zhao, Senior Gavin...?”
She recognized the others as well — they were seniors and club members from Harbor University.
“Ava, long time no see.”
Gavin Langford smiled as he looked at Ava.
Ava was a well-known beauty in the club. Many guys, including Gavin, had crushes on her.
But when Gavin noticed Ethan standing beside her, his expression changed slightly.
Did Ava have a boyfriend?
For a moment he felt annoyed, but when he saw the Citi Bike Ethan had parked, his face relaxed into a smile again.
Just an ordinary college student. Easy to handle.
As long as you swung the hoe right, no wall was impossible to dig through.
Stealing someone’s girlfriend wasn’t new to him.
“Wow!”
“So handsome!”
“I’m in love!”
While Gavin plotted how to create conflict, Fang Man and the other two girls noticed Ethan and immediately exclaimed.
“Ava, since we’re all here for dinner, why don’t we join tables?” Fang Man suggested.
“Yeah, Ava!”
“Let’s eat together.”
Even if they couldn’t win him over, it was worth getting a closer look at this handsome guy.
Hearing this, Gavin’s eyes lit up.
“Yes, Ava, let’s join together.”
Without waiting for a response, the group ushered Ethan and Ava into The Snow Pavilion.
Familiar with the place, Gavin led them to a private room he had already booked.
The room had classical décor — paintings, calligraphy, and blue-and-white porcelain. Outside was a beautiful small lake with lush scenery.
“Make yourselves at home. Don’t be polite,” Gavin said, acting like the host.
“Order anything you want later. I have a Platinum Card here and can get discounts.”
After everyone sat down, Gavin went straight to Ethan.
“Brother, first time meeting. Care to introduce yourself?”
“Ethan Caldwell, a student at Kingsley University.”
Ethan replied.
Kingsley University?
It was decent, but not on the level of Harbor University.
“Brother, what does your family do?”
One of the short-haired girls with heavy makeup, prompted by Gavin, asked.
“My parents are ordinary employees.”
Hearing this, Gavin smirked. No background — perfect.
The short-haired girl also lost interest.
Handsome but broke — what was the use?
The other two girls, however, kept glancing at Ethan with sparkling eyes.
“Gavin, how did you get a Platinum Card here?”
“I heard it requires over $200,000 in annual spending. That’s insane!”
A boy asked enviously.
Everyone turned to Gavin.
“It’s nothing. Strictly speaking, my Platinum Card wasn’t earned the normal way.”
“My dad got it for me.”
Gavin answered modestly.
Seeing their surprised looks, he continued,
“My dad is a shareholder of The Snow Pavilion Catering Group. Getting a Platinum Card is easy for him.”
A shareholder of The Snow Pavilion Catering Group?
Everyone was stunned.
“But it’s nothing. He’s just the second-largest shareholder or so. The group doesn’t belong to my family.”
Gavin added.
In reality, his father was only a department manager with 1% shares. He was exaggerating to show off and create contrast with Ethan.
Hmm?
Ethan raised an eyebrow.
Wasn’t he the second-largest shareholder now?
When did it become Gavin’s dad?
“What? Gavin’s dad is actually the second-largest shareholder?”
“The group’s market value is around $10 billion. Gavin’s dad must be worth at least a billion, right?”
“So terrifying!”
Everyone gasped in shock.
“Average, average.”
“By the way, Ethan, are you familiar with cars?”
Gavin suddenly changed the topic.
“Not really.”
“Ah, what a pity. My Audi is getting old. I want to buy a new one. Any recommendations for something over $100,000?”
Gavin pretended to look regretful.
“What? You just bought your Audi last year and you’re already upgrading? What a tycoon!”
“A car over $100k — Gavin is really living the good life!”
Everyone looked envious.
“It’s nothing. Don’t flatter me. I just want your advice on what to buy.”
Seeing this, Ethan shook his head and stayed quiet.
I’ll just watch you show off.
