Chapter 21: The Teahouse That Belonged To Him All Along
The next morning, Ethan woke up from his sleep.
[Ding!]
[Punch-in task: Would you like to punch in?]
Hearing the System’s voice, Ethan instantly perked up and tapped yes without hesitation.
If he could hear the System’s voice every morning when he woke up, life would be perfect.
Tasks that could be completed while lying in bed were simply too considerate.
[Punch-in complete!]
[Congratulations, you have received a bicycle.]
However, the next second, after hearing the System’s reward, Ethan was stunned.
What the heck?!
A bicycle as a punch-in reward?
Used to receiving rewards worth billions, a $30 million Bugatti, a Koenigsegg supercar, and so on, this time the System had given him a bicycle. Ethan was dumbfounded for a moment.
“System, did you make a mistake?”
Ethan asked subconsciously.
Just then, two contracts appeared beside him — one insurance, one purchase contract.
“A bicycle ... and it even comes with a purchase contract and insurance?”
Ethan curiously opened the documents. After reading them, he understood.
He went to the garage, where a seemingly ordinary black bicycle stood quietly.
“Is this ‘Nightfall’?”
The bicycle Ethan received was called “Nightfall.”
“Plain and ordinary. It doesn’t look like it’s worth over four million dollars, does it?”
Ethan was quite confused.
“Seems like I’m still not wealthy enough. My level of appreciation for fine things needs improvement.”
Ethan said with emotion.
“I have to remind myself every day when I wake up that I’m still too poor.”
After examining the purchase contract, Ethan finally understood where this System-rewarded bicycle came from.
A bicycle actually worth $4.37 million — comparable to a Lamborghini!
This “Nightfall” was the final masterpiece of the world-renowned designer Sasha Selipanov. It was the only one of its kind, with an insanely high price.
“Low-key, luxurious, and full of depth. This suits my temperament perfectly.”
Touching the bike, Ethan said with genuine emotion.
At noon, Ethan suddenly realized that Ava had left a piece of clothing in his car from all the shopping yesterday.
After sending Ava a message, he planned to bring it to her.
Having just received “Nightfall,” Ethan naturally wanted to ride it. The distance to Harbor University wasn’t far, and he could take the opportunity to get some exercise.
“Since getting extraordinary driving skills at the beginning, why hasn’t the System rewarded me with other skills?” Ethan wondered.
He had read countless novels and was familiar with Systems — they usually gave various wondrous skills, black technologies, super serums, and so on. Yet none had appeared for him.
“I need to look into this when I have time.”
With that, Ethan rode the Nightfall bicycle toward Harbor University.
Receiving a call from Ethan, Ava came down from her dorm and headed to the school gate.
On the way, Ava bumped into Sophia Lang, a girl from the same department.
“Ava, are you going to the school gate too?”
Upon learning that Ava was also heading there, Sophia was a bit surprised.
“Are you going to meet your boyfriend?” Sophia asked with a smile.
“Ah, yes.”
Ava was stunned for a moment, then nodded.
Ethan wasn’t around here. Claiming he was her boyfriend shouldn’t be a problem, right?
Even if he objected, he wouldn’t know, and couldn’t do anything about it, hehe.
“Let’s go together.”
The two headed toward the school gate.
Of course, Sophia had her reasons for doing this.
Although she was attractive, compared to Ava she fell short. In school, Ava attracted countless gazes, which made Sophia a bit jealous.
Recently, Sophia had started dating a rich second-generation boyfriend who was handsome and wealthy. She was ready to flaunt him this time.
Her boyfriend drove a BMW!
“Achoo.”
While riding on the road, Ethan suddenly sneezed.
“What happened?”
“Could it be a cold? I have to pay more attention to exercising my body.”
Ethan said subconsciously.
“Seems the System noticed it too, and that’s why it rewarded me with a bicycle — to exercise more.”
In front of Harbor University, Ava and Sophia were waiting.
Before long, Ethan appeared riding up.
“Ethan’s here!”
Ava waved happily.
“Wow.”
Seeing Ethan, Sophia also exclaimed in amazement.
“So handsome.”
“He looks like a deity.”
However, when Sophia’s eyes fell on Ethan’s bicycle, she couldn’t help but shake her head.
There was an old saying — it was better to cry in a BMW than to laugh on a bicycle.
She was exactly that kind of girl.
Having a deity-like boyfriend would be blissful, but she would rather cry in a BMW.
Ethan parked the bike not far away and walked toward Ava.
Just then, a white BMW X5 drove up.
“My boyfriend’s here,” Sophia said with some pride.
The young man in the BMW was Sophia’s boyfriend, Ryan Voss.
“Huh?”
In the car, seeing Ava standing next to Sophia, Ryan’s eyes lit up.
So beautiful!
In front of his girlfriend and this stunning stranger, Ryan wanted to show off. He attempted a beautiful drift to park stylishly in front of them.
Unfortunately, he misjudged the distance at the last moment, and the BMW scratched Ethan’s parked bicycle.
“Who the hell owns this crappy bike?!”
Failing to show off in front of his girlfriend and the beauty made Ryan feel incredibly embarrassed. He immediately started cursing as he got out.
“What?”
Suddenly, he saw the scratch on his own car and jumped up in anger.
“Damn it! That’s my newly bought BMW X5!”
“Whose bike is this? Step up now!”
Hearing this, Ethan cleared his throat:
“The bike is mine. But it seems the one who should compensate is you?”
Clearly, it was this guy’s failed attempt at showing off that caused the collision. Although the BMW now had scratches, Ethan’s Nightfall bicycle was also lying on the ground.
It was as expensive as a Lamborghini, but it was still a bicycle and had been damaged.
“Hmph, it’s just a broken bike!”
Ryan was furious. He thought a crappy bike was nothing — even a hundred or a thousand of them couldn’t compare to his BMW.
“Why did you park it here?”
Seeing her boyfriend’s BMW scratched, Sophia felt extremely distressed. She stood up to support Ryan and scolded Ethan.
“If you don’t compensate today, you won’t be leaving!”
Ryan said with a sullen face.
“Yeah, don’t even think about leaving,” Sophia echoed.
“It seems you said exactly what I wanted to say,” Ethan shrugged.
“The one who should compensate is you!”
Shouldn’t it be you compensating me?
