Chapter 13: The Supercar That Made Everyone Shut Up
It worked?
As Lily Hale’s words landed, Cameron Hale stood completely dumbfounded.
“Ethan, you’re amazing.”
Lily looked at Ethan with pure admiration on her face.
“This guy knows so many important people!”
Her two close friends also stared at Ethan in utter shock.
“You guys head to The Horizon Lake Resort. I’ll skip it,” Ethan said to Lily. He had just been there recently.
Lily and her friends looked disappointed.
“After you’re done, contact me and I’ll take you to see Hudson Lake,” Ethan added.
“Huh?”
Lily and her friends looked surprised and curious.
“Ha, see Hudson Lake? Are you even qualified?” Cameron thought mockingly. He had looked into Hudson Lake even if he didn’t know much about The Horizon Lake Resort.
Only the actual luxury villa owners could get in. A regular college student thinking he could enter? What a joke.
“My car can’t fit everyone, so I’ll head out first.”
Ethan had only expected Lily, so he brought the Koenigsegg, but with three girls now it wasn’t enough.
“Car?”
Hearing the mention of a car, Cameron suddenly perked up.
He couldn’t compete on connections, but cars? That was different.
For this trip, he had spent nearly ten thousand dollars a few days earlier to rent two Maserati Quattroportes.
A Maserati was definitely a luxury car in the eyes of high schoolers.
“Sure, if you’re riding a bike, of course it’s inconvenient,” Cameron said sarcastically.
“Look, my cars are here.”
Cameron pointed to the two brand-new Maserati Quattroportes that had just parked nearby.
“Mr. Hale? Your cars have arrived. I’m your driver,” a well-dressed middle-aged man got out and walked over respectfully.
Renting two Maseratis with dedicated drivers wasn’t cheap.
“Wow!”
“Is that a Maserati?”
“The trident logo — it’s definitely a Maserati!”
To this group of high schoolers, Audis and Mercedes were already impressive. They never expected to ride in a Maserati.
“Cameron is awesome!”
“We’re really thankful to you this time, Cameron.”
Several people hurriedly flattered him.
Cameron was on cloud nine, looking smugly at Ethan.
“What about your car?”
“My car?”
Ethan turned and pointed toward where he had parked the Koenigsegg.
He wanted to keep a low profile, but it was proving difficult.
“Eh, is that the white van over there?”
“Haha, so you drive a van? No wonder it can’t fit everyone!”
Cameron held his belly and laughed.
From their angle, a van was conveniently blocking the Koenigsegg from view.
“So it was a cheap van.”
“Lily’s brother’s friend is that broke?”
Several of the young men and women spoke with clear disdain.
“Trash car,” Cameron echoed.
“It is indeed a trash car,” Ethan said casually and walked forward.
At that moment, the van drove off.
The sleek black Koenigsegg came into full view.
Its aggressive lines and grand presence made everyone hold their breath.
As they stared in shock, Ethan took out the keys, got in, and drove away smoothly.
Watching the Koenigsegg disappear into the distance, Cameron and the others were completely stupefied. They kept staring long after it was gone.
“Supercar?”
“Is that the legendary Koenigsegg?”
Most of them had never seen a real supercar before. Even without knowing the exact model, its appearance alone screamed money.
That car must cost millions, right?
“Was that really his car?”
“So young and already driving a supercar ... how can anyone compete?”
“Yeah, and he’s insanely handsome too!”
“Comparison really is the thief of joy!”
They said, awestruck and envious.
On the spot, Cameron felt the worst. Ethan’s car was a supercar? How was that possible?
He had lost completely — both in connections and in cars!
He couldn’t accept it!
“Wow, Ethan drives a supercar?”
Lily and her friends were utterly astonished.
They originally thought Ethan was just incredibly good-looking but an ordinary college student. They never expected him to drive a multi-million-dollar supercar.
So Ethan was actually a top-tier handsome rich guy!
For a moment, the girls were lost in fantasies.
Eventually, the guys took one Maserati, the girls took the other, and the group headed to The Horizon Lake Resort.
After having fun most of the day, everyone reluctantly left in the evening.
Cameron had booked a four-star hotel in Manhattan and eagerly invited everyone to stay.
Lily and her friends were somewhat unwilling. They knew Cameron had shady intentions and didn’t want too much contact with him.
“Right, didn’t Ethan say to find him when we’re done?” Lily suddenly recalled.
“Let’s find that handsome guy first and figure out where to stay afterward.”
“I agree,” her two close friends chimed in.
“How about this, I’ll have someone send you over,” Cameron offered proactively.
He had been thinking about it all day, wondering if Ethan had just rented the supercar to show off.
Though supercars were expensive, renting one for a short time might be doable.
Under Cameron’s strong urging, Lily and her friends got into the Maserati.
“Driver, to The Sovereign Villas at Hudson Lake.”
Lily and her friends sat in the back while Cameron took the front passenger seat.
After half an hour, they arrived.
Looking around, they saw only an ultra-exclusive gated villa community.
As they parked, they spotted Ethan just stepping out.
“Do you live in a villa?” Cameron asked in surprise.
“Yeah, what about it?” Ethan replied calmly.
At that moment, Cameron felt like ten thousand alpacas were trampling through his heart.
He couldn’t describe how he felt, but after thinking it over, only one word fit — miserable!
Lily and Maddie stared at Ethan with wide, astonished eyes.
They couldn’t believe Brother Ethan actually lived in a villa here.
These villas must be worth over a hundred million each, right?
“Weren’t you saying you wanted to see Hudson Lake?”
“I’ll take you there,” Ethan said as he walked up to the group.
“Oh, is it right here?” Lily and the others were stunned.
