Chapter 11: The Street That Became His Kingdom

“Yo, Ethan, our boss Lauren wants to invite you for tea. You got time?”

The next day, Ethan Caldwell received a call from Chloe Bennett.

Ever since Ethan’s insane gifting spree on Lumina Live, Chloe’s streaming career had exploded. She was now getting full backing from her boss, Lauren Hayes.

Lauren wanted to meet Ethan — the new majority stakeholder of Lumina Live — in person, so she asked Chloe to set it up. Chloe, who owed Lauren a lot, couldn’t refuse.

“Where?” Ethan asked.

“At The Emerald Lounge, right by The Linden Row.”

“The Linden Row?” Ethan muttered.

As he was hesitating whether to go, the System’s voice rang out again.

[Punch-in task released]

[Go to The Linden Row to punch in. Task time: 12 hours]

[Reward for completion: Full ownership of The Linden Row]

Ownership of The Linden Row?

Ethan was stunned. The System was being ridiculously generous again.

The Linden Row was a famous high-end commercial strip near Kingsley University in Manhattan. Though not very long, its location was prime. Property values along the street averaged well over $4,000 per square foot.

With roughly 55-60 luxury shops and restaurants, the entire street was worth between $280 and $350 million. On top of that, the monthly rental income was massive.

In other words, completing this task would hand Ethan assets worth at least $300 million.

“Punching in again ... so exhausting,” Ethan muttered, even as his hand instinctively reached for the car keys.

“I’m in.”

Around 2 p.m., Ethan drove over to The Emerald Lounge as Chloe had instructed.

The moment he stepped inside, a beautiful woman in an elegant dress approached him.

“Mr. Caldwell, you can head straight up to the third floor. Ms. Bennett already made arrangements.”

“Thank you.”

Ethan nodded and walked upstairs.

It looked like Lauren had booked out the entire venue — the first floor was completely empty.

When he reached the second floor, he saw a group of young men and women gathered near the stairs leading to the third floor, chatting loudly.

These were the top streamers from Lauren’s agency.

“Should we head up now, Marcus?” a heavily made-up female streamer asked coyly.

A young man with a trendy fade haircut, a visible tattoo on his right arm, and tight designer pants stood at the center of the group.

“Let’s wait a little longer,” he said.

This was Marcus Kane — the biggest male streamer in their company. He specialized in luxury flex content, renting supercars, and pretending to be rich to attract female fans. He had over two million followers.

Today, their boss had suddenly gathered all the top streamers here without explanation. She had simply told them to wait on the second floor while she went upstairs.

“Excuse me,” Ethan said calmly as he walked over.

The group turned around. The moment they saw him, they froze.

Especially the attractive female streamers — their eyes lit up instantly. What a handsome guy!

They assumed he was another streamer.

Ethan walked straight past them toward the stairs to the third floor.

“Wait a minute!” a voice called out.

It was Marcus Kane.

“You should wait here. The boss hasn’t called for you yet.”

Marcus looked displeased. He was the biggest star in the agency, yet even he wasn’t allowed upstairs. How could some random newbie go up first?

The other streamers also looked unhappy.

The top talents hadn’t gone up yet. Who the hell was this guy?

“Marcus is still here. What makes you think you can just walk up?” the heavily made-up streamer scolded.

“Newbies should learn to respect their seniors,” Marcus said coldly, putting on a superior attitude.

“You don’t seem to be my senior. I’m not even a streamer from your company,” Ethan replied calmly.

Marcus was stunned.

“Who are you, and why are you here?”

“Hmm ... Strictly speaking, I’m your boss’s boss,” Ethan thought for a moment and answered.

“Boss’s boss? You’re exaggerating!” Marcus sneered. “Who’d believe that? How old are you? Get back down here.”

Marcus and his crew were incredulous. Marcus even looked ready to get physical.

“Come down.”

Ethan didn’t move, but a clear voice echoed from upstairs.

A well-dressed woman in her early thirties descended the stairs. It was Lauren Hayes, general manager of the streaming agency.

“Ah, Mr. Caldwell, you’re here. Please come up,” she said with a charming smile, greeting him warmly.

This was the new president of Lumina Live — her direct superior.

Under Lauren’s enthusiastic welcome, Ethan went upstairs with her.

On the second floor, Marcus Kane and the others stood frozen, completely dumbfounded.

What the hell just happened?

He was telling the truth?

This young man really was their boss’s boss?

How was that possible?!

The entire group was in shock.

After chatting with Lauren for a while, Ethan got ready to leave.

As he descended, the top streamers rushed to apologize. Several of the pretty female streamers practically tried to cling to him.

Once Ethan had left, Lauren’s expression turned ice-cold.

“Marcus Kane, you’re done streaming. Permanent ban.”

“No, Ms. Hayes—”

Marcus collapsed on the spot, his legs turning to jelly.

Being banned from Lumina Live meant his career was finished.

The Linden Row was very close. Three minutes later, Ethan arrived at the entrance.

[The Linden Row has been reached. Punch in?]

“Punch in.”

[Punch-in successful.]

[Congratulations, you have obtained full ownership of The Linden Row properties.]

As the System notification came through, 58 property ownership documents appeared inside his Koenigsegg.

“Another $300 million in the bag. The life of a rich guy is so monotonous and dull,” Ethan sighed. “Life is really tough for me.”

The tenants of The Linden Row all received a message from the previous owner at the same time.

“Damn, someone just bought the entire Linden Row in one go. What kind of tycoon is this?”

“Too powerful. I salute them.”

Many shop owners were stunned.

“Since I’m already here, I might as well collect next month’s rent,” Ethan thought. “Time to experience what it feels like to be a landlord.”

With that, he walked into the first shop.

The tenant, who had just read the message and put down his phone, saw Ethan enter.

“Mr. Caldwell, you’re here.”

Before Ethan could say anything, the shop owner handed over next month’s rent and respectfully escorted him out.

One shop after another, Ethan soon collected over a million dollars in cash rent.
