Kiran and Farren emerged from the blue stone temple into hell.
They landed in the middle of a muddy, blood-soaked trench. The air was thick with smoke, screams, and the constant thunder of artillery. Anthro soldiers in tattered uniforms stared at the two naked figures who had suddenly materialized in their midst.
“What the fuck?!” one of them shouted, raising his rifle.

They fought their way through the war zone together.
Farren was in his element: a soldier, a protector, a killer. He used the terrain, stole weapons, and took down enemies with terrifying precision while keeping Kiran close at all times. Kiran followed his lead, heart pounding, mind slowly sharpening the longer they stayed in this brutal, grounded reality.
During a rare lull in the fighting, hidden in a collapsed bunker, Kiran finally looked at Farren clearly.
His amber eyes widened.
“ ... Farren?”
Farren turned, breathing hard, covered in mud and blood. “Yeah. It’s me.”
Kiran launched himself into Farren’s arms.
They clung to each other desperately, kissing between broken sobs and gasps. Farren’s paws roamed over Kiran’s body like he was afraid he’d disappear again. Kiran buried his face in Farren’s neck, trembling violently, their nakedness pressed against one another.
“I thought I lost you,” Kiran whispered. “I thought I’d never see you again. I thought I was going to disappear forever.”
“I’m here,” Farren said, voice rough with emotion. “I’m right here, pretty fox. I’ve been looking for you this whole time. I never stopped.”
They held each other for a long time, kissing, touching, reassuring themselves that this was real. Farren explained everything: how he was a Keeper of the Void, how he’d left on a mission, how he’d been searching for Kiran ever since he heard of a small red fox wandering the Void through a forbidden tear in reality. Kiran explained what had happened with Fern, the temples, the alternate realities, and how his mind had been slipping away with every single one. Farren was angry, the fennec had technically led him to where the wolf was, but he had to have known the temples would claim Kiran.
When they finally pulled apart, the fear returned.
“What happens when we leave this reality?” Kiran asked quietly. “My mind ... it disappears again as soon as we exit a temple. I can feel it already starting to fade.”
Farren’s jaw tightened. “I’ll think of something. I’m not losing you again. Not after everything.”
