Chapter 5

The scent of salt was heavy in the air and permeated the whole bungalow. They were close enough to the beach to hear the soft waves as they ebbed and flowed from the vast ocean. Gulls squealed as they patrolled the area for any scraps of food. It was another gorgeous day on the island paradise.

The space beside her on the bed had cooled. The blankets cast completely over her, and inside the bungalow it was quiet. Adrianna looked around. No stirring but the gentle breeze causing the linen curtains to sway from the open window, mimicking the ocean waves. Back and forth.

She slowly, cautiously, moved her legs to the side of the bed, her skin prickling slightly as her feet touched the cold floor. Her arms instinctively wrapped around her mid section as she recalled the events just before bed. It still hurt. ’How do I fix it?’ She was in paradise, but there was a stark chill within her bones and a dark fog in her mind.

A stronger breeze moved the curtains even more, giving her a brief, but much better, look at the balcony where Mr. Dietrich stood facing the ocean. He said he wanted to enjoy this time with her. She was hesitant to join him.

’He’s never been so cruel to me. What if I upset him again? What then?’ She fell back onto the bed and curled up, knees pressed tightly against her chest, hands clasped around her shins, face buried as best she could to hide her flushed face.

She was so focused on her pain, and so removed from herself, she didn’t hear anything around her. The world was just a distant memory, not a place in which she lived.

Time had no meaning here. It was silent, void. She wanted this, to escape to a part of herself with nothing. Everything that had been an issue at the Estate melted away into the colorless nothing she was retreating to now. No sound, no warmth, no visuals to distract.

The mattress moved slightly, stirring Adrianna, but not enough for her to uncurl from the position she was in. She then felt a hand stroke her back, finger tips barely touching her skin. It reminded her of when her mother would hold her as a child in the rocking chair, caressing her back and rocking her to sleep. What was that melody?

Mr. Dietrich was humming something while running his finger tips lightly on her back. It felt like an old sound, something melodic yet primal. Something about it was vibrating through her nerves, calming, hypnotic even.

Her grip on her legs loosened as she acquiesced to the sound.

“There’s my Adrianna.” He said quietly. That melodic tune was still present in her mind though, flowing through her like the blood in her veins. With each pulse of her heart, the feeling of the sound was stronger, and her self control was weaker.

Her eyes were wide and her pupils dilated. The rest of her seemed completely at ease. Breathing steady, slow, and heart beat controlled. Her mind, just recently in a state of null existence, was racing.

“Shhh.” Mr Dietrich continued to run his fingertips along her exposed flesh. Gently, slowly. The melody seemingly reverberated within his chest.

“Shhh.”

His attempt to calm mind wasn’t working. This whole body trance was much like her dance with Reynard. This only caused her mind to race more.

“I told you Adrianna, you mean a great deal to me. I don’t want you in distress. You’re upset about last night.” He came to rest a hand just above her navel. “Does it still hurt?”

The sound faded and she took in a sharp inhale, sitting up quickly from where she was. Her eyes still wide, brows high and tensed. She didn’t look at him, didn’t dare turn her head in his direction.

He gently turned her head to face him, but she had shut her eyes tightly, shuttering in his hold.

“It does. I thought as much.” He brushed some of her loose blonde hair behind her ear and lifted off the bed.

Adrianna kept her eyes closed tight, arms crossing over her chest now. She felt Mr. Dietrich turn her so her legs were off the side of the bed. She opened her eyes to see him knelt down in front of her, rubbing the top of her thighs.

“There’s those lovely golden eyes.” His voice was still low, pale blue eyes locked onto her, a predatory gaze.

She didn’t know what to think, or what to feel. There was still a sharp throbbing between her legs. He pulled her closer to the edge of the bed and slowly parted her knees.

“Just relax.” His breath was hot against her.

Her grip around her chest loosened, and she found herself gripping the sheets instead. This was something new, Mr. Dietrich had never lowered himself before her like this. She had no idea what he was doing now. Was this his way of apologising? Did this mean, he really did care for her, and he wasn’t going to hurt her again?

The thoughts didn’t catch up to anything when she felt his tongue against her clit. A shock ran through her but she found herself enjoying it.

Last night had thrown her into terror and pain, but this was the most incredible thing she had ever felt. Her excitement was growing, causing her body to warm and her pussy to moisten.

Mr. Dietrich continued to lick, and used his tongue to flick the hood of her clit. Each flicking caused her body to convulse. She fell back on the bed, unable to hold herself up any longer.

Electric. That was the word that came to her mind as she felt her pulse beating in tandem with the flick of his tongue. He was lighting her up like the god of thunder, and her body was the sky. If she had a voice she would have been screaming in pleasure. All she could do was wrap her legs around him and grip the sheets like her life depended on it.

He slid his tongue into her pussy, her back arched. She was tensing up completely in a way she never had before, every nerve felt like it was going off and it all felt incredible.

Something happened, something she had never felt before, and suddenly she felt a weakness unlike she had ever known. How was it that Mr. Dietrich managed to give her so many new experiences? Every time, with one painful exception, was different and amazing in its own way. Adrianna collapsed on the bed, breathing heavily.

Slowly Mr. Dietrich stood, looking down at her and wiping his mouth and chin.

“That should keep the pain away for some time.” He turned to leave but paused, “Once you regain your strength come join me on the beach.”

She had no strength in her to get up quite yet. So she lay there on the bed, head swimming from whatever had just happened to her. Her body began to cool down as she lay. She would come to crave that warmth again.

After some time Adrianna woke. She didn’t realise she had fallen into a light slumber. By now her emotional turmoil had stabilized into her usual carefree state. She lifted herself off the bed and saw the linen curtain had been drawn, giving her a clear view of the balcony and the beach beyond where Mr. Dietrich was lounging and waiting for her.

Though he had apologised in his own way, that’s how she interpreted it, she was still feeling a slight hesitation to join him. Indeed she was feeling much better emotionally, but there was a slight throb any time her mind drifted toward spending time alone with him.

Her sense of duty and obligation eventually gained the upper hand, she donned her water suit, one that accentuated her developing curves, and stepped out to the beach.

Though she was silent as she approached, Mr. Dietrich seemed to know she was near. He always seemed to know. Adrianna didn’t know how but she never questioned it either.

“Did you have a good nap?”

“Yes.”

He patted the lounge chair next to him. Adrianna slipped into the seat, arms crossed over her chest. She bent her knees close too, effectively making herself look smaller. She felt so small at that moment. The ocean before her, wide and greenish blue. This was the first time she had actually been to the islands.

Mr. Dietrich didn’t look at her. He didn’t need to. He rested a hand on her knee. A unique warmth, something she only ever felt from his touch flooded over her. It was reassuring and reminded her of the most important thing, this was the man who brought her back from the dead. She owed him everything.

The first day at the island paradise was awkward for Adrianna. The emotional roller coaster paired with her raging hormones made the events difficult for her to properly process in the short amount of time.

Mr. Dietrich kept a bit of distance from her, she felt his patience would run out at any moment which made day two feel more stressful. After some tender reassurance however, Adrianna had begun to feel more comfortable and in a better emotional state by day three.

It was finally beginning to feel like a proper holiday.
