Contraception Failures (Don’t try this at home, kids!):
Ancient Rome: 100AD. Pliny the Elder said that spitting into the mouth of a frog, three times, prevented unwanted pregnancy. You found a frog, spat and then “got busy” with your partner. Unknown if the person spitting had to be a specific gender. Zero effectiveness and maximum frog trauma.
Medieval Europe: 1100AD. Women wore weasel testicles as amulets around their thighs. If the weasel was killed during menstruation, it was deemed “extra potent” for the woman. So the woman was wearing a thigh necklace that was roadkill birth control.
