Chapter 12: Sold into Submission

There’s a three day hiatus before the next scheduled performance. The troupe return to Sanity Bay so that Mistress Heather can rejoin the group. She has been discharged from hospital on the promise that she won’t engage in skating or any other strenuous activity. With her right knee heavily bandaged, it’s unlikely she could skate even if she was inclined to do so.
By the time Mistress Heather rejoins the group, Zoe has discussed Mistress Brigitte’s offer with Mira and the others. They have all encouraged Zoe to accept the offer, and Zoe has told Mistress Brigitte that she consents to Mistress Heather transferring Zoe’s ice show contract to Mistress Brigitte. Mistress Heather’s return to the group merely puts that into effect. Not for the first time, the tour will continue with only five skaters until a replacement for Zoe can be found.
“Gather your things and go with Madame du Frêsne, Zoe,” says Mistress Heather once she has signed the paperwork that effectively sells Zoe to her new mistress.
Zoe is excited about the job offer Mistress Brigitte made. It sounds so much better than living in, and working from, a rundown converted school bus. Even so, Zoe feels nervous now that the agreement is being put into effect. There are tearful farewells with the other skaters, and promises to keep in touch.
Zoe’s unquestioning acceptance of the transaction underscores her natural submissiveness, which has been reinforced during her time with the troupe. While Zoe is sad to be leaving Mira and the other skaters, she never intended to stay with the ice show beyond her current contract. “Where’s the rest of your stuff?” asks Mistress Brigitte.
“This is all I have with me,” replies Zoe. “I had to put the rest of my belongings in storage before I joined the tour.”
“Let’s get one thing clear from the outset. When we are alone or with friends, you address me as Mistress Brigitte, or simply Mistress. When we are in public or talking among strangers, you call me Madame du Frêsne. Either way, you must address me properly at all times.”
“Yes. Sorry, Mistress. I meant no disrespect,” replies Zoe, realising she omitted saying ‘Mistress’ just now.
Mistress Brigitte orders a taxi to transport them to where Mistress Brigitte’s car is parked. Two hours later, Zoe is being shown around ‘Le Gîte’, as Mistress Brigitte likes to call her home. The name implies that Mistress Brigitte regards this house as her country home. Zoe soon learns that Mistress Brigitte also has an apartment in Stonewell that she uses when she’s working in the city. Zoe’s room is in the attic, next to the bedrooms occupied by the housemaid and the cook. Her room is basic but comfortable, and much more spacious than the living quarters on the bus.
Zoe meets Diana the housemaid and Vicky the cook. Like Zoe, they wear a leather collar denoting their status within the household. Both women are in their mid to late twenties, and Zoe soon feels comfortable around them. That’s fortunate since Mistress Brigitte has a passion for frequently proving her dominance over her new submissive slave.
