Chapter 5: The Heart of the Dungeon
The Crystal Scorpion Queen screamed.
Its massive crystal claws slammed into the cave floor, sending cracks racing through the stone like lightning.
Leo barely rolled out of the way before the ground exploded where he had been standing.
“Okay!” he shouted, scrambling to his feet. “That one almost got me!”
Zip hid behind a jagged crystal pillar, peeking out nervously.
“You should maybe ... not stand where the giant scorpion attacks!”
“Great advice!” Leo yelled back.
The Queen hissed again. Purple electricity surged across its armor like storm clouds trapped inside crystal.
Above its head, the massive red health bar flickered.
Crystal Scorpion Queen – HP: 760 / 1500
Leo wiped sweat from his forehead.
“Halfway.”
Guide-Bot floated beside him.
“Warning: boss aggression increasing.”
The Queen lifted its tail high above its body.
Green poison dripped from the stinger.
Leo recognized the attack immediately.
“Poison strike.”
He dashed sideways.
The tail stabbed into the ground with incredible force, spraying glowing venom across the cave floor.
The poison bubbled like acid.
Leo fired Rapid Shot.
PEW-PEW-PEW
The blasts struck the Queen’s back just as its armor opened during the attack.
The glowing blue core took the hit.
The monster shrieked.
HP: 650 / 1500
“Nice!” Leo said.
Zip pumped his fists in the air.
“You’re winning!”
“Not yet,” Leo said.
The Queen’s body began glowing brighter than before.
Guide-Bot’s voice became urgent.
“Boss entering Phase Three.”
Leo groaned.
“Another phase?!”
The Queen slammed its claws into the ground.
The entire cavern shook violently.
Crystal pillars shattered.
From the cracks in the floor, dozens of smaller Crystal Crawlers burst upward.
Leo stared.
“ ... You’ve got to be kidding.”
Guide-Bot confirmed calmly:
“Minion swarm detected.”
Zip ducked behind a rock.
“That is a LOT of bugs!”
Leo tightened his grip on the Pulse Blaster.
“Well ... time to farm some XP.”
Swarm Battle
The Crystal Crawlers charged.
Their sharp crystal legs clicked rapidly across the stone.
Leo activated Rapid Shot.
PEW-PEW-PEW
Three enemies shattered instantly.
Blue experience numbers floated through the air.

+20 XP
But more crawlers kept coming.
Leo spun and fired again.
PEW-PEW-PEW
Crystals exploded everywhere.
But the swarm surrounded him.
One crawler jumped onto his back.
Another slashed at his leg.
A warning flashed across his vision.
HP: 110 / 140
“Okay, okay!” Leo said. “That’s enough!”
He sprinted toward a crystal formation and climbed onto a high rock ledge.
The crawlers gathered below.
Leo smiled.
“High ground.”
He fired downward.
Energy bolts blasted through the swarm.
Enemies shattered one after another.
Blue XP notifications flooded his vision.
COMBAT XP GAINED

A bright flash appeared.
LEVEL UP
Level 5 → Level 6
Health: 160
Energy: 80
New Skill Unlocked:
Energy Dash
Leo grinned.
“New ability?”
Guide-Bot explained.
“Energy Dash allows short-distance teleport movement.”
Leo blinked.
“ ... That sounds awesome.”
The Scorpion Queen screeched again.
It charged across the cavern, smashing crystal pillars in its path.
Leo aimed at the glowing core.
But the Queen was moving faster now.
“Time to test that dash.”
He focused.
A strange energy surged through his body.
Then—
WHOOSH.
Leo instantly blinked ten feet to the left.
The Queen’s claw smashed into empty space.
Leo laughed.
