Chapter 34: $10,000 Reward
Black Panther followed Dino closely. Black Panther was a little annoyed and let out a whimper. Dino became bolder and said, “I’m sure, and I know that Baldy is hiding in the old forest ranger’s house halfway up Wasinton.”
“Come with me to the police station.” Deputy Park grabbed Dino and started walking.
White Tiger called out from behind, and Dino snapped out of his daze. He grabbed Deputy Park’s hand, and Deputy Park turned to look at him. Dino said, “Brother Park, I heard that gets a reward for reporting or catching people, right?”
“Yes, Ten thousand Dollor.” Deputy Park nodded.
“Don’t worry, as long as it really is Baldy, once we catch him, the reward will be on me, you won’t be shortchanged a penny.”
He was about to pull Dino again, clearly impatient, but Dino still didn’t move. Deputy Park got anxious and glared at him: “Dino.”
Dino hesitated for a moment and said, “Brother Park, don’t call anyone else. Can it be just the two of us? I ... I don’t want to share with anyone.”
He was afraid that others would take away some of Deputy Park’s credit, but he couldn’t say it directly. He only said he was afraid others would take some of his money.
“How can the two of us go?” Deputy Park was also anxious: “That Baldy is extremely vicious and has a gun. We two can’t catch him, and it’s dangerous. We absolutely can’t go without calling for help. Don’t worry, I’ll take care of the $10,000 reward. If it’s a penny less, just ask me for it.”
“I’m not afraid of guns; I have dogs.” Dino pointed to the two black leopards.
“Let the dogs bite his hands, then we’ll rush in and pin him down.”
“How can a dog do that?” Deputy Park exclaimed anxiously.
“You dog.” Dino had discussed it with Old Four Eye first and knew that to gain Deputy Park’s trust, he had to show off his skills. He stepped back and shouted, “Black Panther, bite Director Park’s left trouser leg.”
The two black panthers immediately pounced, one on the left and one on the right, biting Deputy Park’s trouser legs on both sides.
Deputy Park was startled and stood there stunned for a while before saying, “Dino, I didn’t know you had this skill. You’ve trained the dog to be so obedient.”
Dino blushed slightly and chuckled, “I’m a veterinarian, you know.”
“That’s right.”
Deputy Park thought for a moment, then looked at Dino: “Dino, are you really confident?”
Dino knew that he didn’t want to share the credit either, but was worried about the gun in Baldy’s hand. He nodded and said, “Let’s sneak over first. When Baldy is asleep, let Black Panther and the other two slip in and bite one of his hands. If he bites one of his hands, the three guns will be useless.”
Deputy Park lowered his head and pondered for a moment, then finally gritted his teeth and said, “Alright, Dino, I’ll do as you say. My brother and I will go. You wait here.”
As he spoke, he ran back to the police station, grabbed two stun guns and a pair of handcuffs, and rode a motorcycle back. However, he had changed out of his police uniform and was only wearing civilian clothes. He didn’t go home; instead, he ate two bowls of noodles by the roadside. One bowl of noodles wasn’t enough for Dino, but he couldn’t eat too much in front of Deputy Park, so he just filled his stomach. Then the two of them set off.
It’s more than 30 li to Wasinton. If you drive fast, it only takes half an hour. We parked the motorcycle at the foot of the mountain, a nd the two of us went up.
Black Panther and the others went up the mountain to check first, and then came back to tell Dino that Baldy was in the woods behind the forester’s house, reading a novel.
Deputy Park naturally couldn’t understand dog language. When he saw Black Panther and the others run out and then run back, barking at Dino, he didn’t understand either.
Of course, Dino couldn’t tell Deputy Park that he knew Baldy was reading a novel, or Deputy Park would think he was a monster. He only said that Black Panther and the others saw someone, who was probably Baldy.
