Chapter 30: Dino Make a Call
Tony chuckled, leaned closer, and said mysteriously, “There are still wards available, but they are wards for cadres, located in the back. Ordinary people, no matter how rich, are not allowed to stay there.”
Upon hearing this, Old Lady Martha’s eyes bulged out: “A ward for cadres? That’s incredible! It must be where the mayor stays.”
Tony nodded: “It’s reserved for city leaders. What if a city leader has a headache or fever? Are they supposed to squeeze into a room with someone else?”
“That’s right, that’s right.” Old Lady Martha nodded repeatedly: “It’s where the mayor stays. If my old man could stay for one night, our ancestors would be blessed.”
Dino was listening sadly from the side, but with the mayor mentioned one after another, he suddenly thought of Monica. He remembered the night before last when Monica forced herself on him, and that perverted smile on her face.
The face in the moonlight, a mixture of angel and devil, the unrestrained screams—all of this he could never forget. An impulse surged within him, and he leaned closer, saying, “Tony, you said there are vacant rooms in the hospital, but they’re reserved for leaders, right?”
“Keep your voice down.” These past few days, because Dino brought back a lot of red bills, Old Lady Martha’s face had been quite nice, but now that Tony was there for comparison, her face changed again: “What are you asking? That’s where the mayor lives.”
Dino blushed, avoiding her gaze and staring at Tony: “Tony, there are vacant rooms, aren’t there?”
Tony didn’t know who he was. He looked Dino up and down. He was of average height and had grown taller in the last two years. He was also quite sturdy. His features were neither handsome nor unattractive, but the ruddy complexion typical of farmers, which he had developed from years of working in the countryside, was impossible to hide.
Tony didn’t know who Dino was, but after just one glance, he roughly identified him and nodded: “Yes, he is.”
‘I won’t go into the rest. I looked at Dino with a detached gaze, the meaning of which was very clear: there are wards available, but what’s the point of asking? Do you want them?’
Maya was also looking at Dino. There was a hint of eagerness in her eyes. Clearly, she was on Dino’s side. If Dino could create a miracle and get a hospital room, she would be very happy. Although she knew in her heart that it was almost impossible, people in love always have such hopes.
Dino didn’t dare look at her, because he wasn’t very confident. He said thank you, walked away to the side, and took out his phone.
Tony was somewhat surprised to see him take out his phone and asked Old Lady Martha, “Auntie, who is he to you?”
“He’s nobody to me.” In these matters, Old Lady Martha was the most ruthless, decisively distancing herself from Dino: “He’s just someone who helped out, Dear Tony, don’t worry about him.”
He then glared fiercely at Maya, making it clear that she was not allowed to say anything more and should be careful with what she said.
Maya was filled with sorrow, but under the pressure from Old lady Martha, she could only lower her head and not dare to utter a sound, only glancing at Dino out of the corner of her eye.
Dino dialed Monica’s number.
“What is it?”Monica’s voice was colder than usual, probably because it was daytime.
Dino had been mustering his courage, but when she asked him that question, his mind went blank, and he almost forgot everything he was going to say.
It took him a while to remember, so he gritted his teeth, disregarded everything, and said that a cow had gored his uncle and was in the People’s Hospital, but there were no rooms available, e and he couldn’t get admitted.

After listening, Monica didn’t say whether she would help and hung up the phone immediately.
Hearing the long tone on the phone, Dino’s heart seemed to be suspended in mid-air, unable to go up or down. He had his back to Maya and the others, and he didn’t dare to turn back. He just stood there, frozen.
