Princess Botum has the Narrative

WE were in New York City to see what it was like. The WE being my Sisters Maly (Blossom), Daeva (Angel), and myself Botum (Princess). Deirdre was supposed to come with us, but her mother had claimed that she needed her there for a few days to handle anything that came up while she was busy as the Queen with several matters involving different Dragon clans. We thought that it was because she was worried that Deirdre might do something stupid after Morgan MacFarland had left. We knew that she had found him very interesting and not just as a friend but in a sexual way. Of course, they hadn’t done anything more than talking to each other. Still, we could tell that her mother was worried about her.

Actually, both of our Mothers, the Queens, were worried about the four of us. That is why they had insisted that a couple of security personnel accompany us. Not so much to protect us but to keep us out of trouble and protect others from us. Currently, we have two guards with us, Nicolae and Myles Graham, but it was possible that they could be changed later if they were needed to take care of their other business activities.

Our parents had reserved a large suite for us in a fancy downtown Manhattan hotel. Each of us had a separate room. Each pair of rooms had a connecting bath. There was also a large comfortable common room with plenty of seating, but there was no way to cook, just a microwave and a small refrigerator. There were a couple of extra bedrooms in case Deirdre managed to join us and to take care of any changes in our security personnel.

WE had not been impressed with the ‘Big Apple’ as it is called. It was just too crowded, too busy, and much too dirty. On our third day there, we had gone to visit Brooklyn, as we had heard a lot about it. Not all of it was good, and we wanted to see the reality of it for ourselves.

We had gone there by ourselves without our security detail and had been there for a couple of hours looking around at everything when we stopped at this deli that we had read about on the Internet. It was claimed that they had been robbed fourteen times in the last five weeks or so. The deli wasn’t very busy when we arrived there, and we had been looking at their selections of food for a number of minutes when a tall thin black man entered. The two people working behind the counter appeared to be upset by this, and the man, a young man of twenty-two or so, only smiled.

“Give me everything in the till, this is a hold up,” he demanded in a loud voice, flourishing a pistol. “And you bitches give me everything in your bags,” he added pointing the gun at us. This was a definite mistake on his part. WE were not about to be robbed.

“Freeze spell,” Maly instantly said in Thai.

“No, Dragon fire!” Daeva answered in Thai also.

“Freeze spell,” I said agreeing with Maly, and we cast a Freeze spell on everyone in the store except the three of us so we could talk without interruption.

“Can you believe this turkey? What should we do with him?” Maly asked.

“Fry him,” Daeva instantly answered with a grin.

“That would make a mess of the store,” I told them. “Also, the police would accuse us of murder since we look Oriental,” I added.

“Murder doesn’t seem to be considered a big thing here. According to a story on the Internet, the local prosecutor just releases most of those brought in by the police and won’t try them. There’s no bail and no court appearances,” Daeva reminded us. We had all seen the story. “Let’s just make him crispy and then get rid of the remains,” she insisted.

“THAT is not what we do,” I told her, as Maly and I were not willing to go along with that.

“You two are no fun at all,” Daeva complained when we rejected her plan.

“Incinerating him wouldn’t teach him anything,” Maly insisted. “It would also be much too quick, and he needs to suffer for what he has done,” she continued. Daeva smiled on hearing this.

“What would you do then?” she asked her sister in an inquisitive voice.

“We need to send him somewhere that he can suffer for a considerable period of time for the trouble he has caused, and possibly repent before he dies,” Maly told her.

“Someplace cold?” Daeva asked with a smile.

“Someplace away from people, like out in the mountains,” Maly suggested instead. “It could be cold there,” she added on second thought.

“Or hot or both,” I injected. “Any place in this Reality is going to have people whom he could hurt,” I added and began to smile.

“The Demon Reality, on the other hand, has no one that he could hurt. It’s hot and arid but turns cold at night, plus it’s very empty,” I reminded them.

“Yes, Botum, a very good solution. We can even give him some food and water to extend his suffering,” Daeva agreed with a malicious grin.

“Alright, if we are all agreed, let’s cancel the Freeze spell on everyone but him and activate the plan,” Maly told us. We canceled the Freeze spell on everyone but the perp. Daeva went over and relieved him of his weapon and everything in his pockets: It consisted mainly of his ID, a knife, some drugs, and a number of miscellaneous items. I turned to the store employees while she was busy.

“I would like three of your driest pastries and a large bottle of water,” I told them while those few others in the store stared at the three of us in shock.

“What ... what about him?” the older man behind the counter asked in a nervous voice while eyeing the perp.

“Don’t worry about him. My sisters are dealing with him,” I told him. They picked out the three pastries and the bottle of water and put them in a bag for me. I paid for them before turning to my sisters.

“Here are the provisions,” I told them, and Maly changed the Freeze spell on the perp to a partial one. On recovering, he was greatly surprised to find himself surrounded by the three of us, and that his own gun was being pointed at him by Daeva.

“You picked the wrong people to rob. We are not as forgiving as those in charge here. You are going on a trip. Here are your provisions. Take them, as they are all that you are getting,” Maly told him and shoved the bag into his hands. He appeared even more startled on hearing this. Following that, we canceled the Freeze spell on him before joining hands as we continued to surround him and cast the transfer spell to send him to the Demon Lands, specifically to the area where young Dragons had learned to fly in the past. Not to the plateau there but to the lowlands around it.

Those few in the store had been even more shocked to see him disappear. They hadn’t recovered a half a minute or so later when the police arrived. They burst in with drawn guns looking all around the store for the robber.

“Where is he?” one of them demanded.

“He’s gone and won’t be back,” Maly told them. The older man behind the counter then explained what had occurred. It seems that he had been given a signal device to alert the police that the robber was here.

“But where did he go?” the cops wanted to know after he finished explaining.

“We sent him on a trip. One he won’t return from,” Maly told them pleasantly.

“You arrested him many times but that didn’t solve the problem, as others simply released him. We solved the problem by sending him to a place he won’t return from,” Daeva told them with a smile.

“Just who the hell are you to have decided that?” one of the police officers demanded in an officious tone of voice.

WE are the future Dragon Queens of the East, and WE know how to solve problems. You don’t solve a problem by releasing those responsible. It is solved by ensuring that they don’t do the same thing or something similar again,” I told him before we vanished, leaving them to wonder how we did that.

We learned later that evening that the incident was covered on the local news, as the owner of the store had made a big thing of the criminal being permanently removed.
